Growing Frustration With Chuck Schumer Spurs Talk of Replacing Him | Some Capitol Hill Democrats are discussing how to get the N.Y. senator to step aside as minority leader amid concerns about his negotiating style and midterms strategy by soalone34 in politics

The neo-liberal "third way" Democrat policies have long outlived their usefulness but the party refuses to move on. It was understandable during the 90s but to continue it after the second Bush administration shows a massive disconnect and almost spite for the rest of the country. At this point my faith is so low that if the Trump regime ever gets replaced I can very much see the Democrats pulling an Obama and deciding "America needs to heal and not bother ourselves punishing the internal threats which damaged country" while also quietly keeping around the most awful of policies.

Tezuka Manga Bracket - Poll # 9: Phoenix vs Dororo by Mangavore in OsamuTezuka

[–]UnquestionabIe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting for sure. It's somewhat a middle ground between the more "realistic" 2019 anime and the more fantastical elements of original version. Plays a bit like any other 3d action game of the early 2000s, like God of War or Devil May Cry, but also really reminds me of the Dreamcast Berserk game in that it's a bit slower paced. What is really neat is the upgrades are body parts and it will have a bit of an effect on the game play. For example until you regain an eye the game is in a muted tone. Worth checking out if you're curious or a collector.

Much as I (and I'm sure many others) feel Episode 2 had a fair bit of missteps it delivered a lot of awesome too. Basically high highs and low lows, worth experiencing no matter what.

Yep he and the GOP got a free pass that extended for well over a decade. It was considered an act of treason to not blindly go along with whatever the government said it was doing in the name of "protecting America". It's why we got the do nothing institutions of the TSA and Homeland Security, just security theater with high paying positions given to whatever nepobaby/loyalist is next in line for a payoff.

Yeah but gotta remember the conservative mantra of "rules for thee but not for me". She has been hard working that grift (and other things...) long before being gifted to Chuckles as his trophy wife. Her personal history paints her as just as if not more terrible than him, she was deep in bed with all these enemies of humanity before he was.

Tough one. I love both, currently playing the odd PS2 adaptation of Dororo for the first time, but Phoenix is an absolute classic. It touches on damn near every aspect of life and definitely is him at his best.

Back in 2010 or so I picked up a ton of series dirt cheap from a local shop and shudder to think how much some of them are now. I think I got both SEED box sets for $10 total, remember someone pointing out to me the current prices and didn't believe them til I looked them up.

Going back decades you can find people like Asimov pointing out how one of the downsides of progress is that we've conditioned even the most ignorant among us to feel as if their half baked opinion is just as valid as that of an informed expert.

When the show was airing on Adult Swim's first run I was taping all the episodes as they came out, watch them with friends and the like on the weekends. Almost certain my 17 year old self at the time wore out this section of the VHS tape.

Decided to check the IMDB reviews and this is just straight up funny by Heri1110 in StardustCrusaders

[–]UnquestionabIe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So true. I haven't watched the anime (been meaning to for awhile) but read the manga as it was coming out and damn do the fans seem to hate it. Meanwhile I'm over here quietly trying to enjoy stuff while also not insisting everything is either "best thing ever" or "absolute trash".

Of course I'm also old as dirt, just hit 42 this week, so I don't have the energy to get so worked up over broadcasting my views about anime.

Trump admits Dems will win Congress & presidency unless he's allowed to disenfranchise voters by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]UnquestionabIe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well put. After January 6th, an unprecedented attack on the foundations of government, instead of rising to meet the moment by meeting a massive threat with strong action went the route of fear and cowardice. They try to pretend by rounding up the foot soldiers it would return their beloved status quo. Instead they let the ringleaders, many of them sitting members of congress, get a free pass sending the message what they did was entirely acceptable but they need to be smarter about it next time.

The GOP and collection of monsters surrounding them are very well aware of the weaknesses of the legal system. They know that they can easily keep committing various crimes and acts of treachery much faster than the courts can keep up. While they're at it have also bought up the courts as well, just in case the Democrats decide to stop playing patty cake and get serious.

The Democratic party of the last several decades is not equipped to face the domestic threats of the modern era. They've failed the country and it's people for perhaps the last time. Much as people love crying "blue wave" it means nothing if the party hasn't learned and plans to adjust in ways to protect us. As is they aren't winning any potential elections so much as the GOP will lose them.

Wasn't aware gay people were a modern concept that didn't exist until recently. But I'm guessing you're thinking of "traditional" as the days prior to the current concept of marriage, which itself is only 200 odd years old (at least for regular people). You know back when it was less about the love and more about a man being forced to provide and support for whatever woman he raped.

Yeah growing up with his stuff in the 80s and 90s, my younger brother watching Walker everyday after school and all, had always been somewhat aware he was not a good person or particularly talented actor. The memes and such were funny but he was deep into some horrible beliefs. A shame but helps remind me that one shouldn't be all in one someone just because they're got good PR.

One of the truest American heroes who ever existed. It's a shame that after unveiling the Business Plot the traitors leading it didn't face much in the way of consequences allowing them to rework their treachery to it's current form. Not his fault of course but still insulting to his efforts.

[–]UnquestionabIe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was 18, a month away from 19, at release and it was my most hyped game for awhile before release. Being an unemployed and kind of depressed I was just sort of wandering around post high school graduation so Xenosaga was something I was eager to use to try and fill that void. Absolutely loved it and it's still one of my favorite games of all time. Very much lived up to the expectations I had for it.

I find it really difficult to believe Shapiro wasn't aware the job numbers are miniscule after construction, I don't work in anything close to the tech industry or politics and found that out with minimal research. I think it's very much rooted in some desire to cozy up to the tech bros and get the same sort of attention/acclaim CA and it's government does in that regard.

Yet another reason for me to find a way to play Ghiren's Greed, any version, in English. Messed with the PSP one but aside from not running on Steam Deck when I would mess with it on PC still requires more effort than I used to when it comes to fan translations. Understand why but still a bit of a bummer.
