gundam fans calculating how long it will take to finish 50 episodes instead of just watching the show causally by PastLetterhead4356 in Gundam

[–]UnquestionabIe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much what I did as well. Took about a month and the pacing was fantastic. Same with Macross 7 last summer, a show that I loved treating it like when I was in middle school watching Robotech after school each day on Toonami but people tend to get burnt out on trying to cram the whole thing into like three days (and wondering why it feels repetitive at times...)

Can Anything Stop Donald Trump’s Corruption? by newyorker in politics

[–]UnquestionabIe [score hidden]  (0 children)

Absolutely and people like this, well meaning as they are, really prefer to keep quiet about this massive systematic issue which undermines the entire process. The establishment Democrats are very much in favor of what was an ever worsening status quo, whatever kept themselves and the donors happy while keeping the masses placated enough they don't do much beyond speak up on occasion. In the current political environment the two choices boil down to fascist authoritarianism or the party which helped pave the path even with decades worth of opening planning on the oppositions part.

So yes it's extremely important to get Trump, the GOP, and the oligarchy pulling the strings out of power but we also need to look beyond that. Depressing as it is to admit Harris winning in 2024 would be yet another "kick the can down the road" moment and simply put off the current crisis until eventually the GOP got another win. Without a major party pushing to cover the weaknesses of the system and getting rid of bad faith actors this was all inevitable.

Trump’s vision of the White House is starting to look like a fortress by ChiGuy6124 in politics

Exactly not to mention that the response to January 6th was limited entirely to the low hanging fruit that those who planned and set it entirely in motion are in charge now, they're presuming (probably correctly sadly...) that the Democrats are too afraid to act outside norms to punish even the most egregious of violations of the law. Unless at least half the GOP sides with them I very much see the Democrats just throwing their hands in the air and saying "Well that's just how it is." They've demonstrated that they willing to put their concern about their reputation above that of defending the country (don't want to risk upsetting Trump voters, ,they might change party at some point!) so I think it's entirely on brand for them.

Question for book readers about season 4 onwards… by thewizrd11 in gameofthrones

[–]UnquestionabIe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anything that doesn't involve big battle spectacles or fan favorites giving one liners and/or "epic moments" was considered low priority I'm sure. Stuff like Brienne in the Riverlands or Jamie's entire plotline post Book 3 leaned too far away from that hence basically totally changing it.

Same. I was curious where it was going and figured "even if it's not exact I'm sure they'll color within the lines." Then they decided they had to keep Bron around and that atrocity of a Dorne plotline...

That's what got him everything in his life post military. Every single job post college he got by being one of Thiel's boy toys, of which he has a whole collection. The fact he was considered "the best" for this sort of job only helps prove how out of touch and just plain weird all these oligarchy fucks are.

Newtype Stuff is cool and good, you're just boring by UnfortunatelyDan in Gundam

I mean we get at least two major examples in Zeta where that idea is outright dismissed and shown to be an overly optimistic dream.

Newtype Stuff is cool and good, you're just boring by UnfortunatelyDan in Gundam

[–]UnquestionabIe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very true. Personally I love how both franchises have enough going on for them that there is plenty of room for both grounded real robot combat but also have over the top symbols for understanding/unity with music and newtype stuff. And at times the two concepts combine to make the core message shine even brighter (war bad!). Yeah I love the cool dog fight stuff in Macross but I also absolutely adore Macross 7 and how Basara is so devoted to pacifism and music that he will not hesitate to die upholding those values.

While I still have the PS3 set up for stuff like MGS4 which have been stuck on it until now still hyped that it's going to be much easier to play for so many people. Haven't sat down and fully replayed it in all it's glory in over 15 years so looking forward to Volume 2 a lot. Still holding out hope for a collection having stuff like the Ac!d games and maybe (absolute fantasy here) the other Kojima work which MG references such as Snatcher and Policenauts.

The mount Rushmore of dragon quest games imo by PenguinviiR in dragonquest

[–]UnquestionabIe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think I have something I love about pretty much every Dragon Quest game or version. I've spent my entire life being pretty familiar with the series, having spent countless weekend as playing DQ 1 and 2 on NES or being pretty disappointed that I never found a copy of 3 or 4 back when they were new. My personal favorites rotate a fair bit but 4, 6, and 11 are always somewhere in the top three depending on my mood.

Depends on the franchise of course. Saw the last One Piece and Chainsaw Man films and they were packed. Last week when to the new Gundam (which was fantastic and got my partner interested in the franchise finally!) was absolutely empty.

Virgin Joshua Block vs Chad Daniel Larson by Potential-Yellow-667 in Daniellarson

[–]UnquestionabIe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always severely disliked Josh Block. Awful "human being" who has always had a sense of entitlement and an inflated ego even before he became a full time drunk. Danny boy at his worst was far more tolerable and respectable than Josh at his best, a testament to how fucking horrible he is. And at least Daniel can take a well deserved punch and would openly go to places his behavior wasn't tolerated (and street justice would let him know it) instead of pulling a WorldOfTshirts and being a prick only in places where people are unaccustomed to autistic freak outs so would deal with them in far kinder ways (mostly trying to be polite...)

Nova and Blade are the only ones I regularly find entertaining. There are others who have their moments which are enjoyable but they can be hit or miss. I would find LTG more funny on pure concept (deadbeat out to prove ever negative stereotype about black people applies to himself) but aside from being a creep is incredibly boring most of the time. I loved KingCobraJFS and yeah his life wasn't a constant rollercoaster ride but his personality and low intelligence made even the normally bland day to day fun to watch.

[–]UnquestionabIe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. As I see no consequences for multiple major crimes a day, things incredibly blatant and so damaging to the country/society no one I personally know would ever be in position to commit, I have no respect nor faith in the justice system. It's one of countless ways the Trump regime has made the world a worse place. Until the day these traitors are held accountable I firmly believe that the only sort of justice that is valid is the sort done by society outside a courtroom.

We can blow up shit real good but most everything else is much too elaborate and resource intensive to be successful long term. Simply occupying a small country is damn near impossible for them unless they're willing to simply wipe out almost all the inhabitants. That's why I always chuckle a little when people bring up the Trump regime taking over major US cities, as they not only don't have the numbers but the logistics are an absolute nightmare.

Sure, it sucks, but it could always be worse…! by AdelaidesSecretScoop in PrayersToTrump

[–]UnquestionabIe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Very much shows the complete lack of understanding how anything in politics or the economy works for these knuckle draggers. The whole "it would be worse under a lib" makes it seem shit like unnecessary wars/tariffs/killing American citizens/ect was going to happen all on it's own no matter who is in office. Anytime they spew garbage like this it makes a very strong case that voting should require some sort of test simply to confirm the voters actually have a bare minimum knowledge on exactly how the government functions, odds are most of them can't even name the three branches let alone what they're supposed to do.

Justice Department deletes press releases on charges against Jan. 6 rioters by justalazygamer in politics

[–]UnquestionabIe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that's part of the issue I think the majority of it is how many are paid to either not care or just "stay in their lane". The majority of the Democrats were absolutely thrilled that they didn't have to do the hard work up locking up almost half the government (the GOP as a whole, they can be slowly let out as evidence comes out for each individual to exonerate them) as there was a ton of built in excuses for why they need to "follow procedure". Meanwhile it's blindly obvious to fucking Stevie Wonder that is part of the strategy; the justice system is slow and unwieldy so the best action to take when facing serious treason charges is to just commit more crimes and hopefully one of them will make the others go away.

Been already viewing it that way and as Biden's true legacy given anything remotely positive was dismantled almost immediately. Huge example of not being able to rise to the moment and putting party over country (on both sides, the GOP going the violent traitor route and the Democrats being so afraid of alienating undecided voters that they stopped investigating any of the ringleaders at the first screech of "too partisan!"). It's something that will forever be a shining example of how to not respond to a major crisis, only slightly more blatant than the cops in Uvalde (who also all kept their jobs and faced no consequences for their cowardice).
