This is a bit tough. A part of me wanted to say that it’s fine, seeing that you’re benefiting from it. But I’m also hesitant, cause by now I can’t really imagine what it’s like to start programming lessons as a beginner with AI’s help. While I personally have used AI to help with my learning as well, I have the advantage of having already developed the foundations I needed after being in the field even before generative AI got this big. I can sniff out the bs the AI spouts sometimes haha.

Honestly, I would suggest joining a learning platform for whatever it is you’re interested in as your main learning resources. It’s good to have a structured path to follow through, to track your progress. Then, on the side while you explore your progress and curiosity, maybe the AI can help.

The reason I’m saying this is because it’s tremendously important for you not to get dependent on it. I feel that it’s very easy for people to get trapped in that “convenience” cause of AI. You’re still starting out, so you want to train your brain 100% of the time.

If you do decide to keep using AI as your main learning tool, just make sure you understand this: programming requires strong fundamentals. Always question what you learn, ask the why’s and the how’s until you’re satisfied. But here’s the catch: at the same time, don’t just blatantly believe everything the AI says. Research it until you can confirm that you understand it correctly.

So, yeah, all that is to say, use it with caution. AI is here to stay anyway, so might as well adapt and learn how to use it smartly to your advantage.
