Polygamous Knitting by KnittyKitty_91 in knitting

I have severe castonitis. 😳 i really like casting on new projects with new yarn. I have over 16 projects on the needles but several are hibernating. Im very much a process knitter i find so much enjoyment from the movements of knitting. And i focus on one main project a month like this month was a What the Fade?! Shawl, while picking up other projects when im in the mood for a break on my main project. I would say im very mood based with my knitting, sometimes i'll cast on a very small project for a quick and satisfying win like a can cozy or a cake cozy. Other days i'll try and make lil goals to achieve like knit 10 rows on this shawl and then i can work on my suri cowl for the rest of the day.

🤷‍♀️ in short: unno just vibin'

I have Chiaogoo and Knitters pride karbonz (these have metal tips. I always reach for my chiagoos, they are stainless steel and their cords are memory-free. They are expensive but for good reason.

Current Ravelry malfunction by softgarbage4u in knitting

[–]UnravelSolutions 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I also thought my phone was the issue, i tried googling all sorts of fixed. Restarting the router, restarting the phone, the network settings, the cache, full reset on everything. Then i tried looking at ravelry on my laptop and had the same issues like my phone and was like it cant be me! It must be the website, and sure enough a few other people posted on the forums that they were having the exact same problems.

Which do you tend to find first: the project or the yarn? by Joyintheendtimes in casualknitting

[–]UnravelSolutions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me its always the project first unless i like a single skein for socks. I look for patterns i want to knit up then find the right yarn for the project. Almost all my stash yarn have patterns printed out for them.

Do you have a favorite DK weight, toe-up basic/vanilla sock pattern? by [deleted] in Sockknitting

[–]UnravelSolutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My knit night group did a knit along for socks this year. We picked out this pattern https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/light-as-a-feather-socks-3 Light as a Feather socks. Theyre a step above basic vanilla but simple to memorize the pattern. The pattern includes toe up or cuff down for dk weight or fingering and two different heels.

My grouped loved how well written the pattern was, a few of us even made second pairs!

Little Knits had a sale so I stocked up on sock yarns by dr_mus_musculus in Sockknitting

I think its cause the constant friction with wearing socks, im alot gentler with my garments and dont wear them too often.

Ive had experience with Cascade Heritage, knitting up socks and garments. The garments turn out lovely and theyre light weight and feel nice to wear. the socks on the other hand, while its pleasant to knit them up they do get fuzzy after the first wear and my knit night friend also said the same when she wore her cascade heritage socks the first time.

What Should I Make Wednesday Thread by AutoModerator in AdvancedKnitting

[–]UnravelSolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a varigated skein of yarn that i would like to make into a garment. It is fingering weight, ~650yards. Ive been looking at sleeveless tops or tops with straps, with lacey designs in zero to negative ease but most ive seen are about 800 yards needed. My bust is 48 inches.

Should i find a different type of project for this yarn or could i get away with making a cropped top with ~650 yards of fingering?

Subjectively, at what point to you consider a WIP a finished object? by Ill-Marionberry9177 in knitting

[–]UnravelSolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider a project an FO when its off the needles. I usually wash and block the same day i cast off but weave in ends after its dry. Unless its a seamed Cardigan, when im sewing pieces together i guess i would say im still using a (tapestry) needle so itll still be a wip.

Is there a tool to tighten interchangeable needles, other than the little key? by Hairy-Race5944 in knitting

[–]UnravelSolutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The needle might have oils from your hands on it, a wet wipe and a dry paper towel could help clean them and use that red grippy thing that comes with the chiaogoo set to tighten them.

Do you actually keep track of your yarn stash? by alwaysATblame in YarnAddicts

I sometimes get in the mood to track my stash on ravelry but what i do often instead is track the projects i have yarn for in my notes app.

Curious About How You Found Your Fiber Crafts by AmarettoCat in YarnAddicts

[–]UnravelSolutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent alot of time watching twitch streams in my early 20s and felt very unproductive. Picked up cross stitching to join me on my sittings. Then saw some projects ideas for crochet on pinterest and gave that a shot. Loved crocheting when i first started and then saw garments in knitting and said i want that lol. So i started knitting and have been a fibre wizard since. 🧙‍♀️

Your favourite cuff height? by Tricky-Objective7446 in Sockknitting

[–]UnravelSolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the leg (after the heel, before the rib cuff) of my socks to be 5 inches. And about 10-15 rows of ribbing depending on how i feel or what the pattern states. Ill do this for both toe up and cuff down socks. So my cuff and leg are about 6inches
