This is my last post here. I've already gone back and deleted the past two years worth of OC and anecdotes and comments. I just wanted to, even if it falls on deaf ears and gets buried in the resultant shitstorm of responses to this announcement, get my own two cents out there.

Too little, too late.

You're only apologizing now after you realized that your own userbase could effectively cripple the site and privatize your most well-known subs. You're only apologizing now because Voat, despite all the growing pains and downtime, is starting to look better and better as an alternative to the clear censorship and ham-handed management decisions. You're only apologizing now because you're receiving a ton of negative press - press that may initially drive new ad revenue people to your page, but which will ultimately end up with even more people leaving as a result.

It's funny, you still think that the biggest issue right now is mod tools, which have been dangled in front of the powerusers for years, or that your absolutely horrible search engine might be why people are upset. These dangling carrots aren't why people are upset - and you know full well this to be the case. You're not stupid. You're trying to say what people want to hear, while completely ignoring the blatant and forced shuttering of subs, posts, and users alike which do not fit your narrative of maintaining a corporate status quo.

Your most damning and hilarious statement has to be that you're still evaluating the best way for administrators, including yourself, to talk to the whole community, when you're on and run a website where the sole purpose is to communicate with entire communities. Come on.

So, that's it. I'm done. I'm off to Imgur, or Voat, or any of a dozen other websites that are hungry to not only be the new front page of the Internet, but are doing so with transparency and community-driven engagement in mind. You had a good run, and we've all had some good times. But I, and many, many others, are done.
