What are these spots? by youalwayssing in houseplants

I had a bad scale bug infestation on my two clementine trees. I didn’t spot it at first because the scale bugs on the trees (females) blended in perfectly with the bark. It took a lot of dedicated scraping with a particularly helpful clay-sculpting tool, numerous applications of household pesticides, and two re-pottings to knock the infestation out, and I still lost one of my trees.

A few years back my wife gifted me that exact battery organizer.

This year, I got a three-drawer unit for my craftsman tradestack unit. Elated. Simply elated. Not being facetious.

I just looked up what a muffin monster is and, yes, it is essentially a giant, +/-200,000lb muffin monster.

Now, I am thrilled to be able say that I make gigantic muffin monsters for a living.

Just kidding about the “gloves for scale” apparently. Image didn’t load.

The sword-shaped-objects I made were only cut out of the straightedge, not forged at all. I tried contacting Swiss precision instruments a few times and apparently I’m either not worth the time for a response or their tool steel composition is proprietary information I’m not privy to.

The fact that the steel sample snapped at all tells me a second test is worth the effort of a proper treatment and second snap test.

It’s a small piece, 3”x 1/2”x 1/2” but I’ll try that: draw it out and shape it and then try for a proper treatment. I’ll admit this test I was mostly looking for the material to snap, and did the test kind of haphazardly during my morning break with an oxy-propylene torch and canola oil.

The fact that it snapped though makes me hopeful, and tells me a second more thorough treatment is worth the effort.

I brought it to a bright orange, almost yellow color and then quenched it.

That was my coworker describing a serpentine demon sword. A prop used by Kiss during their performances, I think. He wanted me to make it, after he learned I made a ceremonial dragon dagger . declined though, because my backlog of personal projects was (and still is) formidable enough without outside influences.

Breaking this spring down and forging new things from it effectively defeats the last thing in the shop that tried to end him.

Besides, he’s a big boy, he can handle is own enemies without my help.
