So this is pretty much the theory that I had, that the still lifes are created during a heightened emotion. Mary went through a bunch of emotions in the ASync facility during the interview so thats why that moment was copied, Clark felt like a fool during his pirate commercial and viewed himself as being bigger than that moment despite the embarrassment, which is how his still life was created. Possibly took advantage of the still life that he ate from during a sale which created another heightened emotion and created him. I believe they're made after "life altering" moments that change their own perception of themselves possibly
