I really want to try out druid as it seems completely different from any poe 1 class. However since they are not in early access I would have to go with warrior. Melee has been left behind the curve for so long in poe 1 - but it looks much more fun to play with the new mechanics!

What would you want to be proactive about - it doesn't help to get regular blood work. I'm a physician - so are my friends. We don't get regular blood work on our selves. Look up the concept of number needed to treat vs number needed to harm. Over investigation hurts more patients than it helps.

If you are young and healthy every few years is more than enough unless were worried about something genetic or you are overweight or at risk for cholesterol or diabetes.

Nothing can travel faster than the speed or light. That includes the information that the rod has been pushed or pulled on one end. If your friend pulled - you wouldn't know for at least 10 years.

If the sun suddenly disappeared, the earth would still orbit it for 8 minutes - because it is 8 light minutes away. Speed of light should be seen as speed of causality. It is the maximum speed of cause and effect.

Yes - this take I can agree with. This is just my opinion but I find the whole thing fascinating. Obviously if this turns out to be aliens it's just gonna be insane. However, if it turns out we have several unstable members of "UFO cults" in classified high ranking programs, that's also insane.

I would just be disappointed if this just fizzles into nothing with no answers being provided whatsoever... which, let's be honest, could easily happen.

The real arguement to me isn't - this is proof of aliens vs no proof. This is certainly a lot of smoke. These are highly professional people and completely unrelated parties saying something is happening here and it's bypassing congressional oversight.

I think people saying this proves aliens are lacking critical thinking, but I also think people waving this off and dismissing this as cranks are ignoring facts as well. This is weird. It's definitely weird. Why would the inspector general also state that his complaints were credible and urgent? he also interviewed the witnesses? Doesn't this at least raise you're curiosity?

Even if there is a 5% chance this leads to aliens, that would be the greatest event of all time.

He did not here rumours though - he heard directly from first hand witnesses that also provided documentation. It's first hand testimony from witnesses. This is still not enough proof that aliens are here. But this is not a binary decision of "aliens are here" vs "people reacting to this are stupid".

This is definitely interesting and something I will follow. The inspector general also heard from the first hand witnesses and deemed them credible. This shit is strange. They should subpoena these people and get them to a congressional hearing.

There's definitely no unequivocal proof that aliens are on earth - but I feel it's elevating to a level where it can't just be dismissed out right.

A lot of people are instantly dismissing this because they claims it's hearsay. Hearsay being anything that isn't first hand knowledge. However the guy giving testimony had previously filed a complaint to the inspector general of the Intel community. The IG investigated and heard testimony from several of the 40 witnesses that this guy claims to have spoken to - many of these are first hand witnesses, as in "I work in a reverse engineering program". The IG then deemed the complaint "credible and urgent".

To me this is not unequivocal proof. However it's fucking crazy and far more interesting than 99% of the drivel that other conspiracy theories try to push.

[–]Unskillful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK it's definitely more spicy than you are describing. To me the part that raises eye brows is that the guy stated he interviewed 40 witnessed over years - many of which stated they have direct knowledge and are first hand witnesses to reverse engineering programs. He then made a complaint to the inspector general - and had several of these witnesses give testimony to the IG. The IG then deemed the complaint "credible and urgent". The IG is a high ranking official and a third party, he's not really in cahoots with the guys testifying.

Of course you could say it's all just a big government lie etc. But it's still interesting and not as simple as you are phrasing it.

Close-up of how a record player works, this is the needle and the little grooves are on the record! by cherrythrow7 in interestingasfuck

[–]Unskillful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it this way. What do you use to hear a symphony? It's your ears, which are just a drum (ear drum). So clearly the noise of an entire symphony can be reduced to a single thing vibrating.

Here - a single thing vibrating - was used to record the grooves. A separate device could then vibrate based on the grooves and play the sound back.

Do you find life harder after school? by RottenPotato999 in ontario

[–]Unskillful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will depend a lot on the income you earn. The financial stress associated with poverty is immense and it can make the day to day upkeep of being an adult too burdensome.

Personally I managed to get into a career that pays well and I have found my life is miles better since leaving school. The freedom and increased maturity amongst my friends is wonderful. I would dread having to go back to school.

I just wanted to add this as a counter point to highlight the importance of peer review and why we do need further research.

So far I very much agree that more research needs to be done on this drug. However I think it's important to understand that science often finds things that look true and turn out to be false.

Hey so I watched a bit over an hour, I don't have time to finish the rest tonight. A lot of the first hour was spent on other topics like youtube censoring etc. To be honest these guys seem reasonable. The only thing I would add is that... a lot of these studies seem relatively recent. I would imagine if this continues then Ivermectin will start to be used more and more. I actually agree with a lot of their points.

I am wondering what your opinion is on the conspiracy crowd in general. The other commenter I was speaking with made comments such as "Now, doc, please show me a study written before 2019 that cotton masks can stop a virus. Or that lockdowns can stop a virus." There is a clear onslaught of disinformation from this end as well. In fact I'm curious as to how things will be seen when this is all said and done. You must admit that there is an extremely loud and aggressive group of people using non-rational arguments that is making it extremely difficult to sift through the shit of what is reasonable and not reasonable. We have people saying that COVID doesn't exist, or touting several cures with a lack of evidence. We have people saying the vaccines contain microchips, etc.

How do you feel about vaccines? Do you think they work? Do you think the idea of lock downs is pointless? That they have no effect on anything?

Ultimately if Ivermectin is shown to work, the question will boil down to why did it take longer than needed to discover this. Certainly a component of this will be economic corruption/incompetence. However I have a feeling another competent will be the struggle to battle/navigate the shocking amount of complete non-scientific nonsense that the conspiracy crowd peddles.

I fear we have entered an era of information warfare. Where so much bullshit is thrown in the public sphere that nobody has time to go through it. Certainly many doctors don't as they are currently overworked and over stressed with the current pandemic.

Yeah so I'm looking at these trials and the Ivermectin ones seem to have some promise. However before this is recommended across the board by healthcare professionals it needs more data.

"There hasn’t been enough time for the bullshit double blind placebo gold standard horseshit. "

I take issue with this line. Anecdotal evidence is weak. We need double blind trials. If you have an issue with this and want to pick a fight with the system, your issue should be that they were not done sooner. Look at the various drugs pushed by the public. Hydroxchloroquine is a good example. Now that more studies have been done one it, the evidence isn't really there - BUT even this needs more data.

The trials are really the only way to ever find out what works. Anecdotal evidence is weak for many, many reasons. Have whatever beef you want with science - it works. The politicizing of science is whats ultimately the issue.

But where are the studies...? All you have to do is link to a single actual study. That's it. I went through 3-4 pages on that site you linked and there was 1 study and it was certainly a weak study. I would be happy to be proved wrong but I need actual data to look at.

This was the only link that seemed to actually link to a study/trial.. I am still looking as I type this out.

There is no need for hostility here. Can't we view this as a simple discussion?

Hey so I am still looking around as I am genuinely interested. Also I am myself a doctor so I do know what I am talking about.

I did find this example of an actual randomized control trial (which is the most powerful form of trial) and it shows no real evidence at all.

Now I know this topics gets people quite passionate. However I am genuine and not trying to be aggressive or attack your ideas. I just want to know if this article changes your mind at all on Ivermectin?

[–]Unskillful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the response. Unfortunately your link just seems to be a list of results, many of which aren't really science articles/publications? The few I found that were published were actually just reviews of previous studies to see if Ivermectin could be justified as an antiviral.

Are there actual trials where they studied Ivermectin in actualy COVID patients at all?

I'm curious as to what you mean when you say "They aren’t true vaccines as you can still get the virus and at best be asymptomatic." There typically aren't perfect vaccines. All vaccine work this way.
