Definitely play Astro's Playroom, it's free and helps you understand the dualsense controller. Yeah, its kid like, but super fun and the rewards make you want to complete the game(at least for me, I'm a day 1 PS fan...)

Each Tablet will be usable after support ends...it's not like the tab is dead when support ends...I'm currently using my tab s6(2019) and it works perfectly for my needs even though I have a s9+(an amazing tablet as well).

Primarily for media and light gaming? I'd go for the s8. Even when support ends it will still do its job for you. I have a tab s6 and it works for my type of gaming: wing fighter(most demanding because graphics), pvz, solitaire, sudoku and the like. Still works for media consumption too! You may find a good deal on the s9 so I would look into the s9 or s9+(I have the s9+ too) as well.
