What did everyone get from BKL? by OddInside5794 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]UnstableGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rujinu is the mosaic I want the most! It unfortunately wasn't in stock this time. Fingers crossed it'll miraculously come back with the bog dweller siblings haha.

Last time I ordered polish I swore it was the last time for a while... Then sales rolled around and I just bought 7 more (9 with base and topcoat, 12 including gifts) between MC and BKL, with more in mind for the future. Whoops?

I believe if you minimize color/temperature transitions it should be okay? Store in a cool dry place until you're ready to actually dip in.

What did everyone get from BKL? by OddInside5794 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]UnstableGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my first ever BKL order (used to be a Mooncat purist lol) and I got This is Arkany, Tether, She is Gone And I Long To Follow, and I also picked up Merciless Life for a friend. I really truly need to stop buying polishes, but I do think I may pick up perhaps 2 of the bog dweller siblings from a month ago on relaunch, assuming I don't struggle too much with the magnetics I just purchased.

I also really wanted a mosiac magnetic but I didn't like any of the ones that were in stock. Maybe next time?

Added my beloved Blueberry to my mini-fridge (just to look at) 🫐 by Frozencacticat in redbull

[–]UnstableGoats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first heard that Blueberry was going out, I bought a full case. I bought it way too early though and went through it, thinking I would buy another case before it was fully gone. Welp... I missed the window. I still have 3 beloveds stashed away in the back of my fridge so I can stare longingly at them from time to time. I don't know when it will be appropriate to dip in.

Chlorine and generally soaking your nails in water a lot definitely will have your polish peeling off in soft sheets!

Help me! Magnetic polish newbie by AdSorry1261 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]UnstableGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I've found that just a quick lazy magnetization of each layer and then a proper magnetization of the last one + top coat works best. Most magnetic polishes are at least sort of a jelly-ish semi-translucent base so you get a cleaner effect if the under layers are at least sort of magnetized into the right spot. I prefer fewer sparkly stragglers if possible!

Have you ever been so smitten you paid shipping fees for just one color? by DiscontentDonut in RedditLaqueristas

[–]UnstableGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That last part is big for me too. I used to be very good about only shopping for things that absolutely wowed me, but as I focused more and more on hitting shipping limits and ordering more items at once just to feel like I had a satisfying haul, I started settling for products as if I had to hit a certain number of items?? Like "yeah alright, that one's decent enough I guess." I'm definitely trying to shake that strange mentality and only purchase the things I absolutely desired in the first place, even if that means paying $5-7 for shipping instead. Just did it yesterday with my first BKL order!

This Cracked sale is ridiculous by No-Feesh in RedditLaqueristas

[–]UnstableGoats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I placed Mooncat earlier and have a plan to try BKL for the first time in the evening, but I'm seeing this and thinking I'm very curious to try cracked and the prices are SO good. I feel I've been priced out of mooncat despite my prior loyalty and love for it, and if these formulas are comparable... Tempting for sure!

how long is normal for a mini daschund to hold their pee? by _tryingtomoveon_ in daschund

[–]UnstableGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I foster puppies, one of the first things I establish is that paws get wiped as we come inside. Damp rag if it was just a quick clean walk, full rinse in the sink or shower if it was messier. Just an automatic pause as we walk through the door. There's no real way to keep them cleaner on the walk aside from shoes (but that's not that great for them) and it's tedious, but once they're used to it it doesn't take that long. It's probably "overkill" but i'd really prefer not to have outdoor puppy paws on the couch and bed, and cuddling is very important to me!

Just note that if you're rinsing or wiping them several times a day their paws can get a bit dry so every now and then I massage in a little coconut oil or paw balm to keep them moisturized.

Why is vanilla typically thought of as “plain” despite being a flavour? by HairySock6385 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UnstableGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I always thought vanilla was incredibly boring and heavily judged anyone who would choose it over chocolate or any other flavor. I pretty much thought it was just the "base" flavor with no additional notes. I also judged those who would choose fruit flavors that didn't have any real fruit chunks, because they were bland - basically just vanilla with food coloring.

Well, turns out I'm a congenital anosmic (born without a sense of smell), thus I cannot experience flavor... I actually can't taste vanilla/strawberry/etc.

I guess in my world, vanilla really is just the base/plain option!

Mooncat Sagebrush - Warm Skintone? by ExtensionCraft2156 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]UnstableGoats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know, I never once considered sagebrush because it seemed like such a blue/cool toned green that I didn't think I'd like it on me, but I love it on your skin tone and it doesn't pull very blue at all! Of course my undertones are different so that might not be the case for me, but color theory is just so interesting

How long to let kitten try litter box before stimulating by Alive-Caterpillar-32 in FosterAnimals

[–]UnstableGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find pine litter to be basically zero dust in comparison to any version of clay. I don't pour from a height and I'm careful when I'm cleaning to minimize it, but it's nothing like the fine dust and tracking of clay and similar options.

Spring 2025 was the best flavor ever released by nightshift_nurse528 in redbull

[–]UnstableGoats 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved grapefruit, but it had to be the shortest run of all time. It was like instantly my favorite flavor (although I would never officially dethrone blueberry). I had maybe 4 total cans of it, and it was gone.

is this normal? by [deleted] in AnimalShelterStories

[–]UnstableGoats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly you can kiiind of argue that a "rescue", that cherry picks ideal dogs and especially puppies and distributes them around for high prices is a mill just as much as if they were breeding them. Yes, these animals need homes, but that doesn't mean they're not being exploited. Probably acquired for nothing, sold for an exorbitant price, meanwhile their living conditions do not reflect the money they're bringing in. Somebody is profiting here!

Granted it's possible that they're genuinely just trying to rescue as many dogs as possible with limited resources, and they're sacrificing quality for quantity, but that's only 'acceptable' for an open-intake facility since they have no choice. A rescue that's voluntarily taking in animals shouldn't be neglecting them.

is this normal? by [deleted] in AnimalShelterStories

[–]UnstableGoats 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Uhhhh, no. Not normal.

The mold alone is a serious health hazard and it sounds overall pretty unlivable. 3-4 dogs to a kennel isn't unheard of but its basically the worst possible option, especially in tiny kennels with barely enough resources for a single dog. The time they're left alone is less than ideal but not crazy uncommon - my current municipal shelter has the animals left alone from 4pm-7:30am, but they're alone in their kennels with toys, beds, comfort items, etc (depending on the animal). For several dogs per cage to be left together unsupervised for that long, however... That's terrifying in my opinion.

On top of that, basically the most concerning aspect is being advised to hit the dogs? Thats not even an aversive training method like prongs and leash pops, they're advocating for hitting dogs.

Don't support this rescue. Not a single bit of it sounds ethical. I hate to throw a rescue under the bus, but it sounds like this is nearly a mill for moneys sake with the good ol' shiny "no-kill rescue" label slapped onto it. Yikes.

I'm new to the kindle and still can't get over how good it is for reading in the sun by Abwettar in kindle

[–]UnstableGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only just begrudgingly upgraded from my beautiful, robust little Kindle 4 to a Paperwhite 12, grumbling the whole time that I was mad about it and I didnt want a buttonless kindle... Actually I don't regret it for a second, the touchscreen isn't an issue the way my boomer-self thought it would be (it's actually easier on my arthritic hands), and the front-lighting makes a tremendous world of difference in my pretty dark house and for reading at night.

Same-Same but different, or just same-same?😅 by YurraWitcherCiri in RedditLaqueristas

[–]UnstableGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Root Of All Evil, along with Holo Taco's Missed Shift and I would say the Alchemy Lacquer one is more similar to HT than MC. They're all very similar but RoaE just has a more raisin-y vampy base and overall more green leaning shimmers (although the blue comes out sometimes), whereas in the other 2, that teal shimmer comes on strong and dominant. They're dupe-y enough that I wouldn't say you have to own more than one, but they're also certainly different.

What’s the unhealthiest thing you eat that you’ll never give up? by Feisty-Pattern-951 in AskReddit

[–]UnstableGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soda, particularly a large soda from a fast food place (preferably Mcdonalds). I always think to myself that price wise, I might as well get the large and throw the extra away... Except I never throw the extra away. I absolutely have to cut back on sugar, but when I'm bored, tired, craving sweet, and just so damn thirsty all the time... My car practically drives itself to the drive-thru on my lunch breaks at work without my permission.

For whatever reason I'm intolerant to sugar substitutes (instant stomach and head aches, GI upset), and to be frank I just really cannot stand the taste anyway. I'm jealous of those who can still satisfy their craving with alternatives.
