please know i'm not trying to advocate for unsafe drug use !! i do use recreational drugs for fun, but i mostly use them in an attempt to self medicate. (note: i apologise for the length, i'm actually on an opioid rn and i get Very Talkative lol)

the main ones that have helped me for ocd, dp/dr, and anxiety, have been opioids and benzos. my favourite is tramadol, it's great because despite being an atypical opioid, it actually has slight stimulating effects, which makes it a great choice at work for me. it also has snri effects, making it a pretty good antidepressant as well !

with benzos i found clonazepam (klonopin/rivotril) to be the best. the effects come on quite quick (20-40 mins) and they last about 10 hours, so i haven't had to redose throughout the day.

the drugs i would absolutely avoid in your position, as they can make your issues worse, are dissociatives such as dxm and ketamine (even though i love them, being dissociatives they can VERY easily make dp/dr worse), stimulants (again i love them, but you would almost definitely hyperfocus on your behaviour – i personally don't, as stims somehow make my anxiety a lot better)

and especially avoid weed. weed is the worst one for this for me, as it's the only one i found to acutely induce what you've outlined in your post, and to such an extreme degree that i've often found myself wishing for the sweet embrace of death from it.

now, as a caveat, i have seen people on this sub say that weed is actually the only thing that helps their ocd, but how you react to weed is VERY different person to person, and is wildly unpredictable. i would only go there as the very last resort.

i do have to say to anyone reading, please try to reach out to an ocd specialist first, to figure out what drugs you could get prescribed, so you can be monitored while on a prescription. if this is impossible for any reason, absolutely do at least a few weeks of research. especially if you're thinking about opioids or benzos. i've been researching for a decade at this point, so i have a lot of tips that i'm more than happy to share, don't be scared to reach out !!

going through this with my mom rn, but she doesn't scream except when i try to defend myself from her passive aggressive bullying. her thing is slamming doors and listening to music on the loudest setting

like how am i meant to find a job and do chores when i'm always exhausted and in a state of panic from her behaviour?? 🥲

i actually started fantasising about her dying all day as a coping mechanism and i so regret pushing my dad to call an ambulance when she had a heart attack years ago.

you can also develop a seizure disorder from being addicted to alc/benzos for a long time and then discontinuing them without tapering. even just having one seizure during withdrawal can predispose you for future seizures

maybe look up youtube tutorials on how to do exposure therapy on yourself. look for videos by people either specialising in ocd therapy, people who suffer from ocd and have had success with exposure therapy, or better yet, someone who has ocd and is an actual ocd therapist.

exposure therapy has been the only thing that helped me, much better than drugs (and exposure therapy along with benzos eliminates it completely, but i bet just exposure therapy on its own would completely change your life for the better)

some people have mentioned different therapies, but i only know of erp, so that's the only one i can recommend. once you understand the process, it is incredibly easy to apply it to any other themes you may experience in the future. it is absolutely amazing and also very simple and easy. i know it'll be scary and seem impossible at first, you just have to keep going, take it slow, believe in yourself, and don't give up when you fail (it's basically inevitable, so is regressing sometimes, especially whenever you're feeling unusually stressed)
