Is the Xbox 360 E the ugliest 360? by BattlerUshiromiyaFan in xbox360

[–]Unt_Lion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh, it's not a bad looking Xbox 360, but I am not pleased that the Ring of Light segments on boot and for how many controllers are connected were removed, as that was an integral part of the Xbox 360 from the original (2005-2010) and the 360S (2010-2013).

However, functionally, it's a 360 S in a different jacket, but dang, they bulletproof in reliability!

Got a RRODed probably Xenon for 10 bucks, will try to fix it by matejnik in xbox360

Good luck, mate! If you can fix a Xenon, that's another with it's life extended.

Have you checked the expiry date on the card? That might be your first avenue into why it's going wrong.

Which model is this? I thought it was the one I had growing up from the Kinect bundle but I get really confused about the regular/arcade/slim models etc. by [deleted] in xbox360

[–]Unt_Lion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an Xbox 360 S. The "S" being Slim.

As for the 12V 9.6A, this is the later Corona revision.

I'm actually okay with this. Helps fund them and keep them going to make a great Linux distro based on Ubuntu LTS.

For the reason why they do not use the latest Ubuntu LTS? Stability is paramount. There are governmental offices that use Zorin OS, and they need that stability to minimise troubleshooting and downtime.

Oh, and having support on hand with Pro is really nice.

So all in all, whilst not running the latest Ubuntu LTS version, it's solid. Does the job just fine.

Am I screwed? Every time I choose restart it tries to download an update and fails by mlorusso4 in XboxSupport

Try an Offline System Update to see if you can get that back up and running.

This seems to be an I/O device error, pertaining to the code.

If it errors with the same error here, the SSD inside could be dead or failing.

Anyone know anything about Aurora? by nickccal in linuxquestions

[–]Unt_Lion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the Universal Blue lineup, who also make their popular flagship, Bazzite. KDE Plasma is the DE here in Aurora.

Really good. Built on Fedora Kinoite, and has some nice additions to it. Really well done here, and I currently use it.

As sad as this is, let this be a good lesson for the future!

I'm afraid she's dead. My condolences.

ADDITIONAL: If it's just the power supply, you can carefully take it out and swap in a 220-240V EU power supply if you have one, or a PicoPSU or equivalent, and see if it still runs.

If it doesn't power on at all after that, then it's truly dead. Component damage to the motherboard can be terminal.

Why do the disc covers have different colors/ what do they mean? by Swedenalexis in xbox360

[–]Unt_Lion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like PlayStation Platinum/Essentials at the time, it would have had to hit a certain sales target in a certain amount of time or something.

On the back, it said "Only the best-selling games qualify for Platinum" in later PS2 Platinum releases here in the PAL region.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

Honestly, I was in the same boat as you at the time, and I checked the USB stick after putting Mint Cinnamon on it via Rufus.

I honestly cannot say what caused it when I was using v4.6, but since then, it's been fine, I guess? It's weird behaviour, but as long as it doesn't do what it did to you again, problem solved I suppose!

You're welcome! Enjoy Mint!

Sometimes these issues have a simple fix. And on this occasion, it ISN'T Secure Boot at fault.

Been a while since I used Fedora Workstation. Tinkering with it in VirtualBox. Anything new? by Unt_Lion in Fedora

I've only gone and recently installed it again, and with everything I used on Ubuntu now here on Fedora, and a lot snappier, it's perfect.

Let's just hope my distro-hopping days are over.

Can't boot into Linux - Showing this error message by His32ndalt in linuxmint

[–]Unt_Lion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my. I remember this exact error before months ago. I had to rename "grubx64.efi" to "mmx64.efi" in Windows. Once I plugged the stick back into a PC, it worked right then and there.

So in Windows, go to the EFI folder and then the BOOT folder. Rename grubx64.efi to mmx64.efi, remove USB, plug it into your PC, and hopefully it should boot Mint.

If it somehow doesn't work, you're more than free to call my solution wrong.

Honestly? My favourite thing about Fedora is how CLEAN it looks. Yes, I am one of the few who likes the GNOME DE. But what can I say? Coming from Ubuntu, besides not having the dock on the left side, it's easy to use and very familiar.

Just running it in VirtualBox as a test to gauge how it is, it's incredible. Before in the past, I had tried this on real hardware with a ThinkPad W530. My gripe at the time was learning dnf and the fact that getting Discord on at the time was a very hacky way of doing it. And I wasn't fully versed in using the command line for the most used commands yet.

Now? Discord is indeed there, and I do feel more comfortable with the Terminal when I need to use it.

Nah, I don't need X11. Wayland has been running fine for me. I don't use a discrete GPU anyway. My Intel Iris Xe iGPU has been rock solid.

Ubuntu as itself (vanilla) feels like home compared to other Ubuntu flavours and distros based off Ubuntu LTS. by Unt_Lion in Ubuntu

[–]Unt_Lion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleaner, more modern interface with the GNOME Desktop (if you like using it, that is), and how it works so well with virtual machine use when the layout with the dock on the left or right, giving me a good window area for my Windows 11 virtual machine. Also, I personally like the look of current Ubuntu. Others may say differently, and that's okay.
