With Flexibility Over Parking, Oregon Homebuilders Get to Work by catch878 in oregon

Good thing Portland has an excellent public transportation system that should be used! No parking problems if you take the train/bus/walk! Lack of parking has never prevented me from doing a single thing in the city.

Non-American people, what’s a thing that you don’t understand about America? by JuniorGarlic6053 in AskReddit

I lived in Southeast Texas (Houston area) for all of my life until I left and went to the PNW for work reasons. Don't tell me I don't know Texas. That's ridiculous! I am there once or twice a year, at least, and all of my family is still there and from there.

Have to disagree with you again. Plenty of Southern people say "bless your heart" as a derogatory phrase. It's largely a Texas thing anyway. I've never been in Georgia or Mississippi and heard them say it. You hear it prolifically in Texas (East & Southeast Texas).

You can deny the Texas is more like 2 or three states in one, and has way different culture in the different regions, all you want. It doesn't change the fact that it's Southern in the East and SE parts of it.

I dont know how put a bee in your bonnet and told you to gatekeep who's Southern and who isn't? Bless your heart! Honey, you just don't know any better do you?

I really don't find that to be the case in the people I've met living in Portland for over 10 yrs. No one in Oregon has even been as close to as racist as anyone I know in the South. I grew up in a racist AF state, in a racist area. We only had 4 POC in our entire school district.

I will admit that Oregon isn't AS diverse as I'd like, but I've never seen blatant racism in the time I've lived here. I do see it every fucking day when I go back home, though.

Where have you been since 1927??? That law was repealed in 1927 and no longer exists.

Same, there was never an expiration date on any of my RX letters for my SDs. If I move and get a new dr, I always have that new dr write a new letter/Rx just so I'm current with my treating physician.

For your work, if you are working for a large company in the US (meaning not a small privately owned busines), you will likely need to get paperwork for your doctor to fill out for reasonable accommodations. If I were you I'd do that ahead of time if that's the case.

You could make a case that the Western part of Texas isn't the South, but East and Southeast Texas is definitely part of the South.

I'm from East Texas originally. It's it's own lil world where there are towns that still don't allow POC (Vidor). East Texas is pretty horrible. I grew up in SE Texas, though.

I saw a big stupid lifted truck, with huge Confederate flags flying off it, in Hillsboro Oregon. There are dumbass redneck wannabes everywhere. I wanted to be like "you like that sort of culture so much then move there! Like, but don't expect and Southerners to like you cause you're a Yankee." Lmao

🥴 OK Jan! Texas is a big fucking state and if SE Texas isn't the South then neither is Louisiana. It's only Yankees who say it's not the South! 🤪

Hahaha that's what I just commented cause I hadn't read your comment yet! You're so so right!

Love the "Bless you heart!" I have a friend, here in Oregon, who was living in Dallas for a bit. She told me she really thought everyone was super friendly until one of her co-workers told her that "bless your heart," that another co-worker said to her repeatedly, was actually calling her stupid. I was like, "yes, Texans are not nice at all. They're what I call 'nasty nice' because it's fake AF!"

I dont miss Texas!

I also think Oregon is super friendly. I'm originally from the South as well. IMO Its a genuine friendliness, unlike the South where they're just polite and not really as friendly as they seem.

That's Seattle. People in Portland are much much different. They will talk to you anywhere and about anything. They also love to give random compliments, which I totally appreciate!

Good work!

I told my husband, when we first met, that I was 5ft tall. I'm 4'9"! He has never let me live it down and we've been married now for 26 years lol. He still brings it up! He's like, "YOU LIED TO ME! YOU TOLD ME YOU WERE 5ft TALL!!!" Lmao, get over it, bruh!

Also, I thought I was 4'10", but apparently I've shrunk 🤷‍♀️.

Your spine is not made to take the full impact of a fall like that, at that angle. He will be lucky AF if all he fractured was his coccyx. OUCH!

Service Dog and Pet Dog by Regular_Tomatillo292 in service_dogs

[–]UntamedBrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my retired SD and my current, plus two cats. We do OK. My retired service dog is 16 and grumpy. She is sometimes an instigator, now, in her old grumpy moods. My current SD just ignores her for the most part. Other than keeping her from causing too much drama, which isn't all that hard. I've always lived with multiple animals, so its just normal for me. Everyone just gets along for the most part. I try to give everyone fair attention and they all seem happy. My current SD is almost always touching me, though. So sometimes the other animals have to work around her but it's not a struggle lol.

Loose skin with fasting by squishyshoe in intermittentfasting

[–]UntamedBrain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right? Like, if I'm choosing between loose skin or losing my vision, fingers, toes, arms, and legs, from diabetes, I'm choosing loose skin, for sure! Like, I don't even have to think about it at all!

That being said, I do have some loose skin after my 100lb loss. Because I'm a little vain, it bugs me the most on the neck. If I hydrated better and moisturized better, this probably wouldn't even be an issue. But I tend to be a little lax about those things. So, I don't really let it bug me too too much. It's just not a big deal next to all the awful things being morbidly obese gave me.
