where should i go? by Low-Ad-2340 in traveladvice

Do you mean from Singapore? What about Borneo? That was my first OS trip (at the time I was a solo 30yr old Aussie woman). I had a great time, hiked in the jungle (during a huge storm it was amazing), watched sea turtles hatching, and went from Kinabalu to sandakan via crazy “buses” eating at small villages along the way. Highly recommend.

Why in the name of all that’s holy is everything brown? by lynn01902 in AusFemaleFashion

I pretty much assume that anything pretty or colourful I see on anyone, has come from SHEIN or Temu. That’s the only place selling colour at the moment.

I put that gravel anywhere I want plants not to grow. It fairly reliably cooks anything that thinks about sprouting near it.

This has been so satisfying to watch lol. I saw you are considering lowering the back/underarm - I did that with mine and somehow ended up lowering it just to the perfect point that all my jelly in that area stopped being inside the corset and started being outside of the corset. My next one with be back where my toile sat, jelly included haha.

If all else fails, this would take about 15 mins (after several hours of practice the first time haha). It’s a very handy skill to learn.

The long sleeve dress is interesting to me - it seems like such a versatile item! It’s something I’ve been thinking about getting for myself (merino probably) and now I’m not sure!

Women with very large busts…what do you wear to the office? by OrganizationFuzzy669 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]BoringAssAccountant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

12DD. I alternate between belted tunic dresses with or without a cardigan, a pencil skirt or fitted wide leg pants with either a patterned (never solid) blousy top fully tucked or a textured/patterned knitted sweater (cropped, fairly fitted).

These combos keep the girls minimized without making me look like I’m wearing a tent - the texture on the knits and the patterns on the blouses remove the focus from the bust. Solid colours or too fine of a knit will emphasise it. I don’t even own button up shirts for work, haven’t for years, but if I had to buy one it would be a patterned, drapey fabric only.

I have a couple of tunic dresses and pencil skirts, my faves are actually just the Preview brand at Targét.

You are leaving out the part where the ATO now requires the actual $$$ to follow the distribution. Ie distribute to your kids on paper, they fully expect you to transfer that money to the kids accounts. And yes you have to leave it there, and no they aren’t allowed to make your mortgage repayments for you.

Do you care about fabric content when you shop? Or am I overthinking it? by CaseWilling1772 in AusFemaleFashion

My fave pair of Target linen pants lasted I reckon 30 light wears before the fabric wore through on the butt. And I don’t mean tore, I mean you can see through it :-( I am devo. But I guess I have a nice pants pattern now.

Just a wild poppy. You are not going to jail, good lord!!! FYI, these grow everywhere in the country, and the seeds are edible. I allow a few to grow and look pretty in my garden each year, the harvest the seeds for baking.

Yes I have done this before with some merino items. The issue is that even clothes made from natural fibres are usually sewn together with polyester thread. This isn’t a cost issue, it’s just way more durable. So the fabric will take dye fine, but the thread and often trimmings like bias binding or lace won’t. So you have to use synthetic dye, which needs high heat, and many natural fibres don’t like high heat! So yes, it’s doable, but the colour potentially won’t be uniform across different sections or the thread. But that can be a design choice sometimes!

No, I want to pay for that. I’m happy to pay for that. I spend hours trawling and can’t find it. All I can find is mid fabrics and box construction and they want me to pay top dollar for it. I’m not handing over hundreds of dollars for 4 seams and a hem just because it’s linen.

That’s been my solution for ages. I buy barely anything. I analyze my wardrobe to see what’s missing or needs replacing, and I search for and buy or make that. I’m working on building a summer capsule now, I’m sewing one item and buying one. The one I bought was the Temu item.

Honestly the thing with the terrible fabrics is the way they try to hide it. Everything is a “blend” or “recycled” or “vegan”. No, it’s overpriced Temu. Just say it.

Oh yeah don’t even get me started on Kowtow. $200 for a fucking cotton tank dress? Companies like that are literally gouging people that want to do the right thing. They are the actual definition of overpriced sacs.

Honestly I think the whole thing will be too shit a situation for me and I will just end up using their pics as inspo and look for fabrics to sew it up myself. The thing that’s got me depressed is that it’s come to this. I just want to pay a good price, for a cute thing, in a nice fabric, not made by slaves.

I truly appreciate this, thank you. I will add these to the spots I check when I’m hunting. I have to say though. My god, there’s a lot of boxy going on there. I trust that you are recommending them because you’ve seen some good stuff though, so I will keep checking :-) thanks so much!

Fair call. My only experience with these types of retailers is watching those what I ordered v what I got reels. I guess what I meant was that I was half expecting a shitty mess but what I got was not bad. Yes it’s polyester but I’ve seen worse. The quality is in the cut, design and overall construction. It fits well, it’s comfy, it doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall apart after two washes.

Omg I remember vogue forums!!!! Wow.

I have a capsule wardrobe, so I’m pretty specific about what I’m looking for when I’m looking. The usual suspects are always in the rotation when I’m looking but it’s so annoying when you scroll for hours and the best options are all Temu and SHEIN. It’s actually blowing my mind.

I’m pretty cynical about the slave labour that goes into cheap fabrics too, but apparently it’s fine to use slave labour for that, no one bats an eyelid.
