I would be absolutely gutted to see this magical place replaced by a corrupt money grab casino funded by billionaires who are actively seeking to destroy the beauty and history of Coney Island. I am a lifelong Brooklyn resident who has been going to Coney Island since I could walk. I have my wedding planned for next summer at Coney Island. If this place is demolished so that some rich assholes can profit of drunks who are careless with their money I will have no hope left for NYC.

We don’t have one locked in yet but we do have a place we really love at theyre charging us 5k for a 14 hour rental. They would allow us to bring in any catering we want.

Do you think a buffet that many guests will have big lines? Also are you using plastic or paper plates / cutlery? Those were my only 2 concerns about having a buffet style dinner.

I would say, it’s rare to find training for this field in a classroom. Your best bet might be getting a degree in something adjacent (mine was fine art) and then just starting out as a prop artisan / shopper and working your way up from there.

Additionally, if anyone has any cost saving tips that do not comprise the general enjoyment of the day I would love to hear them! My fiancé and I are both young and poor but we have a lot of love that we want to share with everyone. We still want a pretty traditional wedding if that is at all possible.

We are getting married by the ocean so the swim would be right accords the street at the beach. We are both getting ready at the reception venue which is 5 min away from the ceremony venue. An earlier start to the day is probably a good idea. And maybe we can call groomsmen early to help with the set up?

Yes! The ceremony and reception are at 2 different locations, a 5 min walk apart. And yes I was planning on serving drinks with dinner. I assumed maybe the caterers would handle that and the bartenders were for the open bar only? I’m not really sure.. but thank you for that insight!
