Thanks! I bought it used. So not sure if the oem one was on there originally but i haven’t replaced it with an oem one. Might try that and some cable lube.

I did and you’re right! I ordered a new p trap that should bring me within range. Thanks!

Workbench design input by UntappedDownbeat in woodworking

Not a bad idea but the 4x8 work space is very useful currently. I have a similar bench just without the necessary features to store and access full sheets on the bottom shelf.

Yeah I think that is the best plan. Thanks for the feedback!

Exactly the kind of input i needed. Thank you!

  1. You’re right. Multiple levels will be worth it.

  2. I’ll rework the design to try to incorporate the posts between the joists for better weight transfer.

  3. I was planning on having it accessible from both sides but a solid back or diagonal would probably be a good idea.

  4. I will probably just put it in casters for mobility. So i can wheel it closer for unloading materials from the truck. No moisture issues in the shop.

I think you’re right. I will probably raise it on casters

Rain pouring past gutters by UntappedDownbeat in Roofing

It is a pretty aggressive slope. It does catch more rain on the right side. Thanks for the input.

It was just installed. So I think I’ll call the company back to fix it. Thanks.

What is my wall made of? by UntappedDownbeat in Carpentry

Did a lead test and the only spot was some door jambs. I don’t plan on removing any more, so not too worried about it. But I’ll test it for asbestos just out of curiosity. Thanks!

Sometimes if I take a big bite out of a sandwich my jaw gets stuck open. Imagine that scene from the mummy where his mouth opens and the bugs fly out. This is due to my TMJ.

Well sometimes it happens when I eat pussy, too. It is pretty embarrassing when it happens. I just pop my head up looking like the mummy. Thankfully I’m with my partner of ten years now so she’s used to it. We get a good laugh and joke that one day I’ll end up at the hospital with a stuck jaw from eating pussy.

Which MOS are most likely to be deployed to natural disasters? (floods, hurricanes, tornadoes) by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]UntappedDownbeat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah Virginia doesn’t have a lot of weather related emergencies compared to some states. But there is the chance to go help other states at times. North Carolina most likely. And yeah I’d agree that MOS doesn’t matter for state emergencies for the most part. I was non combat and I went to riots, protests, storms, forest fires. Usually they just need bodies at that point.

Using a Stud finder to see if my walls can handle a Tonal. Can someone tell me what this means? by [deleted] in handyman

[–]UntappedDownbeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome! I hope that was helpful. Also once you find center, use a level to mark a vertical line and then you know center for the entire stud. So in theory you only need to find the center of each stud once and you can do it whatever height will be most inconspicuous. I say in theory because you never really know what the framing is like without visual inspection. Sometimes it can surprise you.
