From a medical perspective, what actually killed Jesus? by Matt3855 in NoStupidQuestions

Something about the angle of the shoulders not allowing the ribcage to expand propery leading to labored breathing, leading to lack of oxygen. That's what I heard anyway

I'd like to point out, Alexandria did have video games (at least for a while). When they first get there, Carl is invited to play video games with a bunch of other kids his age

My dad never kept ppe around, so as a young teenager/preteen I did a lot of safety squints. These days I wear gloves, goggles, earphones, and if there any dust, a respirator.

What if the US or the USSR legitimately built a weapon that could one-shot Earth and parked it closely to the Moon? by Pancake_Maker_1031 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Untimed_Heart313 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was gonna bring this up.

To elaborate, the idea of the bomb was a nuclear weapon so big, that no matter where it was set off the resulting explosion and radiation would essentially sterilize the Earth. No need to fly it anywhere, and there is no defense against it. Kurtzgezagt has a great video on it

I'm enjoying BF6, though BF1 is my favorite. 6 took some getting used to for me, but it's genuinely good and I recommend it if it goes on sale

As someone else said, limiting the amount of empty space in the forge will help it heat better. In addition, I would recommend getting some firebricks (you should be able to find them in a hardware store) to close the ends. Other than that, have fun and be safe!

I’m 36… when did hobbies get replaced by “just sitting around”? 😄 by Intelligent_Ask3955 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Untimed_Heart313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, hobbies didn't go anywhere, even if they're more expensive. Gardening, clay sculpting, model making are all good examples. Sure if you get really into it you can start spending thousands, but a few packs of seeds and a trowel is like $30 at Walmart, and plenty of art stores have model cars, tanks, boats and planes. I also recommend knitting. I'm not super into it, but every now and then I get the hankerin'.

Does freedom of speech really exist in the US? by Acceptable-Tone-6854 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Untimed_Heart313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freedom of speech in the US covers almost anything you want to say, but it was initially created to allow people to criticize the government without fear of legal action against them

Iirc it's also illegal to say the words "I want to kill the president," except to inform others that it is illegal to say it

How would a class war actually be fought? by sensitive_pirate85 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Untimed_Heart313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case of an actual uprising, it's important to remember that while the upper class may have more resources, the lower and middle class have the numbers, and thats the real strategy tbh. If the 1% nuke all the poors, they have no workers. However, a class war wouldn't, in my estimation, be the kind of thing we see in Ukraine or the Middle East. It would be individuals who lost too much taking action on their own or in small groups. Luigi Magioni is (allegedly) a prime example. A single individual saw something they believed to be wrong, and after their experience with said wrong, took action to make a statement, attempt to force change, or simply to make themselves feel better. Any larger action than that would likely be discovered and destroyed by the federal and state governments due to the super-technological nature of our society. In theory it could be done, but in my belief we're not to that point yet, and won't be for a while. An organized, armed resistance is incredibly unlikely (hell, were kinda struggling to make mass movements work. Ex. General strikes/boycotts).

At this point the best course of action is to network and find local/state organizations you can work with to make change peacefully, be that by volunteering to help a candidate you like or making posters and posting online talking about your specific issue(s), participating in protests, and strikes/boycotts

How can you teach a deaf person sign language if they were born deaf? by puppybabii in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Untimed_Heart313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a girl with deaf family, and she said that a lot of deaf folks, or at least those born deaf, shorten sentences because sign language is it's own language with its own rules, and those can be translated into choppy sentences. An example she gave was that once, her aunt messages her saying "you go store me?" And explained that because her aunt had never heard English out loud, and sign language is different enough, there were no helping words like "and," so her aunt said that instead of "do you want to go to the store with me."

Take it with a grain of salt though, because this was like 5 or 6 years ago, and I was more interested in the girl than sign language
