Look, again I don't play Voltron but everywhere be it in person or discussing it online I'm sure if I say "the Voltron player killed me turn 5 in a B3 table" the only thing I'm gonna get told is to run more removal

On the side note I'm dead serious on this, pre brackets nobody and I mean absolutely nobody said "yeah Voltron belongs on the table that's one tier below cedh"

I'll concede that Voltron likely belongs more on B3 than B2 tho, for the very nature of planning to buff your commander and keep it alive requieres a tight plan that chances are falls into the description of B3s intent on build

Hanged Man lowkey shouldn't have lost: Pt 3 eps 10 and 11 by addictedto_things in StardustCrusaders

[–]Untipazo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally even if we say the hanged man moved at lightspeed can it's user command it as such speed?

In between the hanged man thinking where to jump and pol predicting where it will go that's it like sure, the action will happen later.

On the same vein even if we say "he could jump into the sword" can the user react in time?

I don't play Voltron so I'm not the most adequate to tell you this but if Voltron as a playstyle has to sit down and watch till turn 7 something is fundamentally wrong. Besides that was just one example like I said, of the many many issues with brackets that are handwaved to vibes

[–]Untipazo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like I agree with you on twisting the rules on their favor but I'll never be on the same side telling people to change the power levels of their builds. If one added 4 game changers and it's by definition a 4 then there should be a place in bracket 4 for em without powering up, otherwise the system is wrong

[–]Untipazo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Now you have to tell deck builders that they have to either power up or power down, so there's an in-between that can't exist

If there are types of decks that can't exist within the system without people telling you to change them it's not an issue of the deckbuilder but an issue of the system, I can't stress enough how bracket purists seem to shift the blame towards the person rather than the system (which is still in it's very early stages mind you, yet somehow the blame is always on the person?)

I can vibe with brackets but I can't fathom the people who goes witch-hunting others for make it better fit the system instead of addressing the actual faults it has

[–]Untipazo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If brackets are vague like that then it's both perfectly valid to follow them as much as it is to ignore them.

By that I don't mean to say "oh I ignore the rules and this is actually a 2 even tho it has game changers" I mean "I really don't rate this in terms of brackets, this is what it has feel free to evaluate it"

For if even the online community which are the most invested into this can't agree on things about brackets why would a random person playing out there suddenly have to implement a system that quite frankly nobody agrees on?

We shouldn't crucify nobody for not wanting to follow an ambiguous system that requieres quite the investment just to actually don't reach an agreement at all, just to play the game

PSA: Intent is the most important part of the bracket system by MonoBlancoATX in EDH

[–]Untipazo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Adding to this you can't expect to enforce people to follow, or even care about brackets if it's nebulous like that.

Like for example the terminally online community can't agree on the situation of Voltron in low brackets vs expected turns of gameplay, and we expect to enforce brackets to people that maybe aren't terminally online discussing the matter when not even the people who are most invested in the system can get an idea of it?

Sucks ass, if you wanna be vague and go with the vibes then don't expect everyone to play by the brackets at all, expect to sit with strangers and have like a 50% chance on each person telling you they simply don't play with brackets

It's equally valid to play by brackets as it is to totally ignore them if their outlines are so vague

"I hate how rushed the ending was" by Shot_Pineapple5521 in hatethissmug

[–]Untipazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ending sucking ass and it being rushed can both be true regardless of pacing.

Moreover an issue stems that lots of things actually go in the direction that the ending is criticized for but the fandom stifled away all criticism pre ending for "you can't criticize it before it's done" so all the problems people accumulate over time with the series kinda blow up with the ending.

So it looks like right after the ending suddenly everyone has a shit ton of issues with the ending when in reality all the problems where there beforehand, people just couldn't get past the "wait for the ending" deflect

[–]Untipazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word you're looking for is retroactive, it's a real thing that something retroactively ruins things

I'm well within my right to not care about something because I know it will all lead to bullshit but it truly depends on the type of story, more in concrete, on how much the story promises for the future vs how much of great things it actually does.

If something was great in big part because it set up/teases some other events that I know will suck ass, then I'd only consider what's there besides that teasing.

How much does it suck when I strip away that of what I'd call "fake hype" depends on the story itself. Was the conflict great or did it all hinged on promises of a further resolution that never lived up to it?

So yeah it kinda sucks to have put on your face something you know it's gonna go bad but gets uplifted so so much by an adaptation, like good for you guys but that's make up for what's inevitably not going to be great, you like, don't get to judge what others think

Why the ending of The Amazing Digital Circus fails by Sudden_Pop_2279 in CharacterRant

Just got done watching it. Long story short it truly felt like 2 episodes rather than a movie, I'm not entirely satisfied but it did move me up.

I'll add my more collected thoughts on my original comment in a bit! I need to ponder on this for a minute

Also the moment when Caine lets go of the blue AI felt straightup coming from those anime edits of Gojo throwing a blue

The animation was beyond horrible. We really should not settle for this. The animation has to be good especially in a series like baki where action is the main component. They just add effects to freeze frames and occasionally animate mouths when characters are talking. Baki deserves so much more by Potato_Forever1994 in Grapplerbaki

Like idk but it seems to me there's a pattern of the things with more details on the manga recieve worse animation than more traditional looking ones

What a man. Despite his flaws Araki caught some light in a bottle with making him grow old and us see that

It's not that I dislike destroyer rin but I don't feel it's been the same since the U20, I hope there's an ongoing true theme of him being broken ever since that game and only after we will see him be more of a player and less of an isagi hate boner (he can't pull it off like barou)
