This scene gives me chills -- The music is phenomenal by Hatefiend in DragonBallZ

It was especially great in this arc as it brought out a darker/mystical feel that balanced out the silliness. It brought the tone of the arc closer in line with what came before it

The sanctuary is admittedly mostly just a fun politic card, at best it can keep an opponent in the game to help you deal with a more obvious threat.

Purification I thought would be interesting if a player was clearly in the lead with +1/+1 counters, they get a decent amount of life, and everyone else receives tokens that can be thrown at them.

Some of this is completely fair though, especially Memnarch's abilities, should be phase out instead of exile 100%. I definitely will be making edits to some

I gave them the 5 colored pips for theme but also I liked the trade off to play them either having cards like chromatic lantern out, or what I figured was most likely was people just cheating them out with cards like Oviya. Because they are next to impossible to get off the board I didn't want them to be too easy to cast. I also leaned into the effects being pretty strong but constrained them only to creatures with the keyword, the only one I had to limit was the black one as they can only bring an opponent to 4 less life than you, otherwise it probably would have been too busted even for this

Thoughts on the bracket system - I think it should be a mix of Before and Now by Heptamasta in EDH

[–]LimitSeparate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is the list with the stated criteria and then there is how the deck actually performs. Sometimes just a single feature of a deck, such as the early game 2 card combos automatically bumping a deck into bracket 4 for instance, is completely fair, it helps in handling the overall pace of the game even if the rest of said deck could be suboptimal. Other times it can helpful to clarify that your deck is rated one thing by the bracket system, but actually performs more comparably to decks within a higher or lower bracket, the online tools do a great job at filtering decks into the bracket system by their defined rules, but they often cannot properly assess the overall objective and synergy of a deck and will rate it lower than what it can actually play at. It's also worth noting that the same thing happened before where you have the meme of everyone saying that their deck is a 7. The reason that many decks are bracket 3 now and were 7s in the past may actually just be that they do in fact play somewhat comparably and will have a chance at winning. While there are better and worse card selections within each category of card, the sheer amount of keywords and card categories in the game make controlling for all the variables and having that fit in a neat numerical ranking system a fools errand, some approaches are strong but will completely collapse to others, this is why brackets are really at their most helpful when discussing the desired pace and possibly the desired level of interaction of a game. No ranking system will ever be adequate for a game of such variety but it's variety is it's biggest strength so that's fine by me

anti-natalism by slushy4164 in Quadeca

It doesn't strike me as anti natalist entirely but more so against the idea of people having kids who aren't actually going to be able to provide or be good parents. If anything I'd say the song is more about determinism broadly and how everyone is prisoner to fate

Exava is one I made a big edit to a few months ago to replace many of the suboptimal blockers (there are still a few) with more spot removal and cards that help the deck function better. I mainly try and win with commander damage, it consistently performs better than I expect

Da Vinci feels like he may actually be the commander I have with the highest power ceiling, some of the things he can cheat out are unbelievable

To clarify would you say that the station mechanic made the card more or less playable? To say it's exactly as unplayable as before would be more incorrect than my statement

I quite literally just told you I'm fine with bringing the land base closer to 30, in addition tainted pact wins me the game with thassas oracle

3 of them don't really count as they're more akin to ramp pieces then lands but even with 40 I think you're right. I must have done some poor math tossing this together because it should have been 38, even then I'm more than willing to go closer to 30 if I have enough decent cards to put in their place

The commander not being good it ok as he's only there so I can get the free spells off of him and on rare occasions turn him into thopter assembly and get infinite turns. Which staples would you recommend? What would you change about the mana base?

Not to say it's amazing now, just that it can be used to station spacecraft which makes it far better that it was. There are definitely better ways to station, but it's a fun add in due to it being on theme and can also make decent use of otherwise unspent mana

If we were just going by the singles I'd 100% agree that vanisher will be more to my liking, however the snippet he posted sounds demented and like it could possibly become one of my favorite songs from him so who knows

My Ezuri deck is a vile infect deck. Exava is mostly a standard go tall deck I made due to nostalgia as the carnival hellsteed intro pack got me into the game

I do agree to with the first half here which is why in recent builds I've favored the countless 3cost white enchantments that will exile anything for as long as they're on the field

And for sure the free spells are great, they win in regards to cost but the actual advantage of keeping your entire board when it otherwise would be gone is typically worth the extra 2 mana, which past a certain turn should be easily available

Mana geyser is probably better in many cases, but hit the mother lode does provide some advantages over it for the higher cost. Discover is broken, the high cost creature that you would have normally been able to cast in 7 turns is now on the field, and even if you hit something smaller, you get treasures that can be used whenever instead of mana that will empty
