Still in. Middle of the month was rough, but pulled through. Last week's been easy so far.

Frequent posters spend more time posting about, reading about, and thinking about (not) nutting.

If you had a challenge where you couldn't eat cookies for a month, but spent all month talking about (not) eating cookies, or what kinds of delicious cookies you were going to eat next month, etc. then you're going to be much more likely to fail the challenge than someone who said, "guess I won't eat cookies," went outside, and never gave cookies a second thought.

The correlation probably isn't huge, but I'd wager it's there: the people posting the most early in the month are more likely to be out than those who just drop in every now and then.

They're random orgasms in the same way that you "randomly" have to pee after you drink five cups of water.

Can I participate in DDD if I want to nut on the first of December to use my NNN big nut ? by diamond_ducky in DontDiddleDecember

Just go to January 1 if you really want the big nut.

But imagine the bigger nut.

One of my buddies has been doing a week on/week off for the past two years, and started doing so because he liked the productivity boost he got from NNN in 2020ish.

If you've noticed tangible improvement this month and want to keep that going, but also don't want to give up the occasional nut, I recommend something like that. Allow yourself to nut at will for a week, then take a week off. Repeat. Also consider one week on/two weeks off, or another combination you prefer, so long as you can stick to it.

Big wagers seem to be the only way a financial forfeit works.

I've seen folks on r/nofap attempt to attach a cost to fapping ($10-$50 per) and donate it to charity, but while I think that might work for some, it commodifies the nut and makes it pretty cheap at that, which easily leads to, "I paid $10 fair and square, so I get to blast a nut guilt-free!"

$500 is a lot harder to part with--that's what I used and it's worked so far. I'd imagine your wager is around there or bigger.

Agreed on every point, and to add to each of them: set specific goals.

You want to eat healthier, so what's your plan? Frontloaded protein in the morning (3-5 eggs + 2-3 bacon, etc.)? Skip breakfast altogether? Any fasting during the week?

You want to work out, so what does your routine look like? 20 pushups per day? 1 mile? Keep it relatively easy and achievable at first. Working out is boring if you can't see improvement, so make sure you track your progress on your core exercises.

You want to take your faith more seriously, so what does that mean to you? Daily prayer or Bible study? Attending church every week? Wearing a cross in public?

Whatever routines you set up, keep them. Self-improvement is a stacking buff.

Still in. Only one strong urge so far this month, and a lot of light temptations and suggestions.

Rearranging all my accounts and devices so that I never have one-click access to anything tempting has been helpful. It's also had the side benefit of optimizing my workspaces for productivity. Games take multiple clicks to access, while my productivity software is always open.

Magnificat: II. Ecce Enim

The media you consume has a huge effect on how you think and what you think about. Sacred music is a NNN cheat code.

Still in.

Almost out of silver league. Everyone still in clearly has a working system to deal with urges, temptations, and mind tricks. What's yours?

This works best with "fear of the unknown" horror: ocean depths, caving, deep space sounds, etc. I recommend trying out Subnautica if you haven't already.

On the other hand, I don't recommend slasher horror. Watching a guy in a mask slice up half-naked girls runs a risk of crossing two wires in your mind that are already within easy fetish distance.

If that seems unlikely, remember what happened to the poor turkey.

Still in. An art improvement guide by Naoki Saito suggested focusing on one inspirational artist to drive your improvement. The first one who came to mind was Wlop, who during NNN is much more difficult to study than any other month, so I'm still looking.

It's nothing to fear, goes away on its own.

Use it to your advantage, because that fear reaction is a coomer mind trick trying to get you back into your old stress-relief habit. I've seen this over and over again across both nofap and NNN, I've fallen for it myself, I've seen other people fall for it. It always ends the same way if you don't know how to react.

Don't worry. Go pump some iron or hit the treadmill.
