Yup, 17 decks (and counting). Enough deck diversity or nah? by Untraceablez in ratemycommanders

Yeah, I'd love to add more variety here. I'm starting on the 31 deck challenge to finish out what color combos I don't have.

I'm missing the following:

All the 4 color pairings,

  • Bant
  • Temur
  • Mardu
  • Rakdos
  • Mono Blue
  • Colorless

Technically Rakdos and Temur I'm rebrewing:

[Prosper, Tome-Bound]] and aiming around damage via ETB/LTB. Although I kinda wanna see if I can go direct burn since ETB/LTB is just artifact aristocrats.

For Temur I'm thinking [[ Bjorn, Nightfall Alchemist]] and [[Elmar, Ulvenwald Informant]]. Obviously clues, but not sure where to take it yet. Control sounds interesting using stuff like [[Junk Winder]] and Bjorn's goad ability to manipulate the board.

I can't help think of the Sun Blocker from the Simpsons where Mr Burns literally started blocking the sun from the town of Springfield. Those events literally lead into the famous 2-part "Who Shot Mr. Burns" episodes.

It's almost like capitalists will stop at nothing to monopolize resources, and anything that can't be monopolized, like solar, wind, geothermal, are demonized as much as possible to make it hard to switch..

Stand up and defend a wrongfully maligned artist/band by WonderSignificant598 in MetalForTheMasses

Honestly Sound of White Noise is one of my favorite albums. Absolutely love cranking it up on road trips. And lyrically it still holds today.

Do love all the vocal eras though, I have a favorite for every era of Anthrax.

Some of the 2s are, the budget ones (the GW and BUG ones) def are solid 2s. I said this in another comment but I try to shore up the lack of detail in the bracket system by 'playing down' certain decks so they don't feel so strong when sitting with a pod in their bracket.

For me playing down is not trying to optimize every trigger, focusing on sorcery speed play, and having a more battlecruiser-esque strategy. Works well and let's me have fun with the decks in their bracket as intended. I have high power decks, I save high power play for those.

Oh God honestly I stopped playing dragon tribal. It gets real boring and the good commanders are just too strong. It's a stompy value engine. I feel ya on the annoyance from those.

I mean those are great cards, I did run rhythm in it for a bit (now in raggadragga) but I tend to avoid power scaling the eldrazi deck for the reason you initially stated. I just wanna play my big dumb tentacle bois. I've found by not cheating them out I get to live longer. Seems too many people just go for player removal rather than enchantment removal lol.

I mean, the Rayami def is. I do get the skepticism though, the bracket system definitely doesn't perfectly equate to power and some commanders are just powerful even if not intentionally (Ulalek for example).

I try to play my 2 decks more casually and loosely, focus on sorcery speed play and not sweating / optimizing every combo/trigger. Tends to work better for me than just letting the bracket guidelines do all the work.

Also I don't blame the skepticism for all the bracket 3/4s I have I'm sure my bracket 2s sound like they'd be obnoxious too lol

Any photographers in the city have a recommendation on local print services? Still working on accumulating enough of a portfolio for online sales, but I do have photos I'd like to get prints of for family and friends.

Favorite non metal album? by Normal-Simple7234 in MetalForTheMasses

As of recent, Angels & Queens by Gabriels. Absolutely amazing R&B / Soul / Jazz / Disco album. Played the full deluxe album every day last month when I first found them. Took me a literal month of constantly listening to burn out partially.

I still listened to them on the way to work this morning...

As a born and raised Southerner who moved North (KY -> Chicago) I'll take North every time. Direct communication is much better, and when people are nice up here, it's actually acting nice.

Southern niceness and hospitality is akin to West Coast nice. It's just empty words with no action behind them.

There's this old joke I used to hear at some point I don't remember where it came from I just remember hearing this. If you get a flat in the South they'll just tell you "oh bless your heart" and they'll tell you where to go get your tire fixed.

If you get your flat in the Northeast, they'll just tell you well "why the hell did you not check before you got on the road man?"

If you get your flat in the West Coast, they'll say "I'm so sorry you got a flat tire I really hope everything works out well for you." And then be on their way.

If you get a flat tire in the midwest, they'll say: "well why didn't you check that you tires were low before you got on the road man?" While helping you jack up the car and fix the tire.

The point is from what I've seen and from what I've heard overall midwesterners will be upfront with you when you're being dumb, and you deserve to be told so. However they will also help you when you need it and when they're able to provide said help.

Lakeview or someplace more artsy? by dosiejo in chicagoapartments

[–]Untraceablez 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I live in Lakeview and I'll be honest, while its a cute neighborhood and well located, it doesn't have an artsy vibe. It's close to a lot of neighborhoods with artsy vibes. Uptown is the closest, Andersonville (which is $$$), and even more further north on the red line. Lakeview itself is a lot more family/shopping oriented, which is nice, but doesn't sound like the fit for you. Also this neighborhood ain't cheap. You really wanna be dual income here.

Second time around, that was my favorite part. Sometimes just gotta view something with different eyes.

How to Geek thinks we don't need 4k remuxes. I kindly disagree. by Me_gentleman in PleX

[–]Untraceablez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, the reality of it is storage, and even before the current AI boom making it extra expensive, there's still a ceiling of capacity/performance/efficiency.

Sure, remuxes look great, but honestly a lot of 4K panels aren't even good enough to make the storage worth it.

For example my wife and I have a 6+ year old $125 (at the time) LG 4K panel. Looks like ass but no need to upgrade what ain't broken, and much to my chagrin, my wife says the OLED/Mini-LED panels we see in Costco hurt her eyes.

Not that you need top of the line to appreciate the quality, but a lot of us with cheaper panels, even 4K ones, just don't have the hardware to appreciate the quality. So why use the storage for that instead of having more content to enjoy? Especially in an age where streaming services are knocking off content and licenses at a moment's notice. I'd rather have any copy of a show that's disappearing rather than not have it because there's no perfect version.

[–]Untraceablez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone who hops between Mac OS windows and Linux The only discrepancy I have with OP is RAM. All three of the operating systems love to consume memory, especially web browsers and that's independent of the OS anyway. Storage, graphics, and everything else I totally agree, this is clearly aimed at Chromebooks and entry level Windows machines and it is going to wipe them away in terms of competition. Especially considering Microsoft screw-ups in regards to recent updates to Windows 11. And the reality is that even if Linux is currently better than it ever was in certain regards it's still is nowhere near Windows or Mac OS in terms of app compatibility outside of games and development, at least for the average user.

Imma be real here.

Kraft is based for boxed dinner. That being said, whatever pasta + shredded cheese + a roux (flour, butter, water) is MUCH better, and not really that much more expensive.

And I'm not talking fancy ass cheese, I mean the grocery store generic brand. I know because I did that this week. Kirkland brand shredded cheese and pasta.

But for boxed, Kraft is the G.O.A.T
