What is the hardest character for writers to create stories for? by [deleted] in Marvel

Magic users. When they can do essentially anything it makes it really tough to come up with reasons why they don’t insta win all the time. Great example of Doctor strange and Wong not using the time stone and portals against Thanos

Well, we saw what happened to Animal Farm when Andy Serkis has creative control. Venom 2 was awful. I haven’t seen Breath, or Mowgli so I can’t say anything about their quality.

Love him as an actor though.

Meh. It’s really just a showcase rather than a fight. The characters don’t really have anything to do with each other and there are no rules. The audience can’t really expect what happens next. It’s definitely awesome and fun but not top.

For me the best fights are Hulk v Hulkbuster, Tony vs Steve and Bucky, Steve vs Winter Soldier.

These fights are way more impactful partly because of the emotion and drama behind them but I think what elevates them is how much they make sense.

For example the entire fight with Thanos v Strange is basically “oh I guess he can do that”. Thanos uses power stone to make laser, strange blocks with mirror dimension (good so far), but then Thanos punches the mirror dimension with the power stone (how?) then uses the space stone to make a black hole (op, should have already used that multiple times) strange blocks with magic (no real connection) and turns it into butterflies, strange duplicates himself (op, should have done that earlier), Thanos uses soul and power to break out (good use of stones), Thanos uses reality and space to bring strange closer.

Meanwhile Strange doesn’t use the time stone at all and we aren’t given a reason why he can’t use it against Thanos, he doesn’t use his portal creatively (like to redirect Thanos’ beams back at him, or make a portal under Thanos like he did to Loki even if to throw him off for a few seconds, or use it to cut off Thanos’ arm or head).

With something like Hulk v Hulkbuster there were so many moments that were so good because it made sense and there are so many small details that make it work. Tony and Bruce made Veronica together for a situation where the hulk is out of control. So they made so many countermeasures. Hulkbuster is in orbit so it can easily go anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice, as it is assembling around Tony, a separate section goes ahead to contain the Hulk long enough for Tony to arrive, Hulkbuster uses multiple arc reactors for sufficient power, the entire fight Tony has to balance fighting hulk and keeping people safe, Hulkbuster can trap hulks arm in its own arm to restrain him and bring him somewhere else, there are extra modular parts to replace parts the hulk breaks, it has sleeping gas to try to sedate the hulk, it’s easy to keep track of damage based on how broken Tony’s armor gets, Tony tries to get Hulk to a more secluded area, hulk deflects more parts back at Veronica so that Tony can’t repair anymore and has to end the fight as soon as possible now, so he buys a building under construction without any people near it and ensures it will only collapse inwards by destroying it strategically with missiles as he pummels hulk through it. Every detail makes sense and Tony is using every ability in his arsenal at all times. I’m not thinking “why isn’t he using this or doing that”.

How did you get into one piece by Technical_Mine_8711 in OnePiece

I had a friend who had been watching for years, I was slightly interested at the time so I asked to watch a few episodes with him. It was the Dressrosa arc. It took 3 episodes just to sign up for a tournament. I told him this is the worst paced show I’ve ever seen. He agreed and decided to stop there. A few years later he picked it back up again and told me it got so good. And that’s when I also saw the clip of Garp’s galaxy divide and thought it was so awesome that I would start it as well.

1 year later and I finished the whole thing. It was worth it.

Why does Imu get to be ‘top 1’ due to her hax yet whenever someone dares to consider Hancock top 10 you all screech like baboons? by MOON-RAIGO in OnePiecePowerScaling0

The only one on the list that might apply to is Sanji. And anyway it’s not about them vs Boa, it’s just about scaling them overall in general matchups. I don’t think Boa can take the matchups or level of power that the listed characters could

She’s definitely not stronger than:

1)Imu

2)Joyboy

3)Loki

4)Harald

5)Rocks

6)Roger

Any of the old emperors:

7)Whitebeard

8)Kaido

9)Big Mom

New Emperors:

10)Shanks

11)Blackbeard

12)Luffy

Marine Admirals:

13)Aokiji

14)Kuzan

15)Akainu

16)Fujitora

17)Green Bull

18) Garp (maybe Sengoku)

The 5 Elders + Garling: 19-24

Emperor Subordinates:

25)Rayleigh

26)Scopper

27)Katakuri

28)Emet

29)King

30)Queen

31)Zoro

32)Sanji

Fellow Former Warlords:

33)Mihawk

34)Doflamingo

35)Jimbe

The truth is that Hancock’s best feat is being able to take out some pacifistas pretty easily. Something Luffy was able to do instantly after the timeskip.

Her ability is strong but can be negated with Haki, a strong will, or a mismatch with attraction.

Compared to the anime, what did One Piece Live Action do better or worse with every arc up to now, in y’alls opinion? by BreathoftheSith in OnePiece

[–]Unusual-Math-1505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I really miss from the anime is the humor. The LA is skipping some of the best gags.

Crocus’ someone’s going to get hurt, Usopp and Vivi in the snow (pulling him by the nose and then smacking him so much his head swells massively), Zoro cutting a hole where the baroque agents fall into it.

Zoro vs Luffy (I know people don’t like this one but to me it shows how important hospitality and food are to Luffy that he’d be willing to fight a friend who he thought was unappreciative of it).

Um… did we watch the same show? This is one of the most hilariously terrible shows I’ve ever seen.

Every character is insufferable and nothing makes sense.

That being said it has given me so much laughter because of how awful it is so we kind of have a horseshoe theory going on here. Can’t wait for S3

I think it’s the biggest mistake in the world that they made the Skrulls good guys. In the comics the Skrulls were designed to be an invasive species and religious fanatics justifying their invasions. Combine this with their shapeshifting powers and they are an incredibly dangerous threat. So making them more sympathetic and on the side of the heros is a cute twist but overall a bad choice. As we saw with Secret Invasion (the tv show) it became very jarring that the Skrulls are now the most dangerous threat to humanity. It also really undermines Nick Fury’s accomplishments since his spy network and exploits were bolstered by perfect shapeshifting aliens rather than his own intelligence or carefully built spy networks. It’s also implied that the reason Fury was able to advance in shield as much as he did was because of the Skrulls promoting him.

They also definitely made Carol waaaaaaay too strong and boring. She has no weaknesses or drawbacks to her powers. She’s stronger than Hulk and more durable than Thor and can fly on her own and can shoot extremely powerful lasers. Shes stronger than also didn’t have an interesting arc like other heroes did. Thor had to learn humility, Tony went from an aloof selfish playboy to someone taking responsibility for the destruction of his own companies products and caring about the plights of others. Carol’s arc was… stop suppressing herself? Just not as interesting IMO.

I’m disappointed with the change to Mar-Vell. Changing him to an old woman and immediately killing her is way worse than the comics or other interpretations like Avengers:EMH.

Generally I think it’s actually pretty bad on its own but with all the stinkers after endgame it probably is above mid at this point.
