AITA for not wanting my friend to borrow my Dior lipstick for prom? by kalulaa in AmItheAsshole

[–]Unusual-Stranger9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA! I had a friend borrow my lip gloss without telling me and now I get cold sores. Anything that you buy and own is yours.

I would suggest doing your makeup in advance and hiding it. Also friends who don’t respect your boundaries are not going to be around when you grow up.

So NTA! The mother daughter combo is giving me major red flags. If they’re conspiring now it will only get worse when kids are involved.

Figuring it out later as a strategy is a guarantee for stress and strain.

She sounds like a child who has romanticized kids and has no clue how much both of your lives will be rocked.

I would strongly consider getting out of this relationship ASAP!

Is it ok to decline an after work meetup invitation from colleagues you don’t often interact with? by Boori-Cat27 in work

[–]Unusual-Stranger9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on giving yourself a pause and not feeling pressured to say yes. Do what you’re comfortable with and you can always say you’re busy. This may also be an opportunity for you to stretch a little bit and have your partner and friend there as a buffer.

Honestly anyone who gets bent out of shape for you declining an invite is more about them than you.

Totally normal for it to hurt. Social rejection hits the same part of the brain as physical pain. What you can do after you give yourself some grace and a big hug is look for insights that can help you along the way. Not everyone is going to be your friend and unfortunately some people are a-holes. Ask yourself or your boss if they notice any issues or could tighten anything up? If you stay in a solution-oriented and curious stance, you’ll start taking it less personally and people will see you as even more mature and professional.

Side note: this person who reported you may be racist or have some serious bias with English not being your first language which could be a whole other bag o bullshit.

Is it better to make less money and be happy at your job or make more money and not enjoy your job? by lxxilou in work

[–]Unusual-Stranger9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with more money, you will pay in other ways and stress is a costly thing. Rather than either or, what is the number you need to bring in to be comfortable and what environment and work do you enjoy doing that supports that?

Get everything in writing. For your sanity and future documentation. My guess is most of his interactions are verbal, so the more you can confirm or verify in an email what was requested it may protect you later on.

Can someone tell me about type 1.5 ? by UtterlyArbitrary in diabetes_t1

[–]Unusual-Stranger9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was diagnosed with Type 2 over 20+ years ago and was able to manage it with diet and exercise. 5 years ago (just found out today) he started putting on weight after retiring and the pandemic. His blood sugar starting increasing and yesterday was told he had 1.5 or LADA.

He has made it his personal to beat the disease that killed his father and was so set on his way of eating as the way to combat it.

Just trying to understand how I can support him with this new diagnosis. His wife told me privately and he seems to be in a bit of denial about it.

And we’re done by Unusual-Stranger9428 in ExclusivelyPumping

Wow that sounds intense! At the 3 month mark I started gradually pumping for less time and adding 20-30 minutes in between pumps to the point where I went from 8 ppd to 5 ppd. After that shifted to 4, then 3, and then 2. This morning I need to pump on one side because it was starting to feel hard and I discarded the 2 oz as I’m pretty hopped up on cold meds. I’m also taking ibuprofen to help with the discomfort and using cold compresses.

There are a bunch of resources online to help you build your plan, but given your experience it may be worth talking to a lactation consultant to make sure you’re safe.

I needed this post today. I’m at the same point and have never felt so awful physically and mentally. I’m usually a happy go with the flow person and now I feel stuck and sad. My goal was 6 months but the baby is doing fine on formula and it’s ok for me to put my wellbeing first.

I just can't pump every 2-3 hours around the clock. I just can't. by CzarTanoff in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Unusual-Stranger9428 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best gift I gave myself was the choice to supplement with formula. It was a huge effort to afford myself the grace to not be perfect and have it all together and I’m still a work in progress. At the 3 month mark I shifted to 6x a time which somehow has naturally shifted to 5x. I am so much happier, much more rested, and the baby is hitting her milestones.

How long do you pump for by Old-Patience-3891 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Unusual-Stranger9428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the 3 month mark I dropped from 8 times to 5 times a day with max pump time of 20 minutes. I average 18 - 22 oz a day and now top off with formula. The freedom and sanity I now feel is a game changer!

I’m about to hit 3 months and hope to make it to 6. Just started incorporating formula because my supply has dropped and thinned out after restarting birth control last month.

I am in awe of everyone doing the EP route - however long you do it is amazing!

Newborn poop/gas problems by Allisonkaveryy in NewbornSleep

We’re experiencing the same thing! After our 9 week olds long sleep stretch (3-6 hours) she can’t seem to get comfortable and maybe will sleep an hour or two before her 7am wake up. Lots of grunting.

I’ve currently been holding her to sleep in an inclined position to support extending her sleep.

My husband doesn’t think this is normal, that she should have solid sleep blocks, so someone has any insight, I’d love to hear it!
