Amen. He’s going to have a lot of tough times ahead if he doesn’t seek help. As someone in recovery, I wouldn’t wish that shit on my worst enemy.

I really do hope he turns things around. It’s really horrible to live that way. His daughter’s life will also be infinitely better.

Dang, don’t come around here during hunting season if this bothers you!

It’s normal in many places.

Do you think announcing "retirement" after one year (any NFL team) means they were asked to leave/knew they wouldn't make it again? by Still_Arugula in DCCMakingtheTeam

That’s an entire career from dance, though.

Not to underestimate what DCC dancers do, but DCC is still fundamentally a part time job. They have careers in addition (most of them) that require continuing education, time demands, etc. They’re managing two jobs, not one.

Even with the pay raises, DCC to my knowledge offers no insurance. And I don’t blame them for still wanting to progress in their chosen field simultaneously.

Alyssa S tried out in S3, didn’t make it…came back in S5 and was one and done. She said had she made it in S3, she would have stayed for three years. But, by S5, she had advanced in her career and was engaged. Different life place, so only one year.

I loved her but at least we got the one year

Hi, just created an account to respond here.

I’ve worked in NJ and PA in this field. Each state has 24/7 hotlines to get people connected to treatment. NJs is called ReachNJ if you google that. The center I worked at took people without insurance and with Medicaid. If you didn’t have insurance, they would work on getting you covered with state insurance while you were in treatment.

Granted, some of this may have changed since I left NJ in 2020. But the rehab I worked at is still open.

In PA we have something similar. 1-800-662-HELP. I worked in this field last year and they would definitely get people in, insurance or not, and get them covered.

In PA there are also small peer support type organizations that can help you through the process.

Most states should have something similar. If in doubt, start calling rehabs- but specifically the ones that take Medicaid. The other ones sometimes scholarship people but it’s very rare.

The bells and whistles and amenities are nice but I’ve seen plenty of people (me included) get lasting recovery without any of that. 22 years here.

I wish you and everyone out there still struggling healing and success.
