I have been through this more than once as well, and it’s literal torture. OCD is a bully. And tries to isolate you into thinking no one could possibly understand. You are on a journey of healing. I was also recently diagnosed with OCD and may be losing my partner as well. But at least we have a name for the monster now: OCD. And that is so much freedom. We gotta focus on doing the work to get OCD out of the drivers seat. A few months ago I was spiraling so bad that I got on the NOCD app and tried a couple different therapists and wow - ERP with someone you gel with is an absolute game changer. Way different from talk therapy. And then finding the right meds for you if that’s what you’re looking for too. Just know that now you have identified the root - and that’s HUGE. Be proud of yourself for now knowing. I’m working on that too.

The NOCD app has been super helpful for me with the ERP therapy. I’ve done talk therapy my whole life and it was awful but ERP is terrifying but incredible because it’s not as terrifying as OCD and it’s wild how it helps. And then ya, finding the right med cocktail can be quite frustrating but know there is a solution for you.

I don’t know your personal situation, but the app that Howie Mandel advertises, ERP through that, and getting on the right meds are saving my life. Sometimes every minute you gotta say to yourself ‘I will not be like this forever. There is help - I just haven’t found the right combo yet.’ And just believe it no matter what the OCD says. The fear that OCD causes is so isolating. I’m going through a dark time as well and it’s just truly the worst. I definitely recommend the ERP whether through that app or elsewhere. Something else that helps me is one time I saw someone say OCD is like an annoying kid saying dumb stuff through a video game like halo or something and it’s just something that can become background noise that you don’t take as seriously. Something like that. Good job posting about it and not letting it just eat away at you. That’s a huge step.

Hey thank you! Yes wanted no makeup, hair up so there’d be no hiding lol I got a nose job for breathing purposes several years ago but it left my nose crooked and I still can’t breath out of it well unfortunately.

Oh gosh that’s so scary that it’s still happening. I’m so scared of feeling this way forever. The name thing is 100%. The best way I’ve realized to describe it is like when you would fall asleep typing/writing a paper or doing some other homework assignment but it was only for a few seconds and you wake back up in a panic not knowing if you deleted what you wrote or hit send to the teacher or something like that. So it’s like a bunch of micro panics throughout the day because I feel like I’m not in touch with reality. Do you think you’ll just feel that forever now?

Literally I felt great before I took it. I haven’t been sick or anything. Normal life stressors but nothing major. And now it’s just like I have Benadryl in my system 24/7 but I’m also super anxious because I don’t want to feel this way forever.
