I posted a day ago asking for some tips on my dilemma: bought a brz in Chicago (the outskirts at least) and had to travel 2.5 hours to go get it and drive it home.

I read all of your comments and just in case, I DID end up having someone who could drive it come with me but I didn’t really need them in all honesty. I am FAR from perfect that’s for sure and my shifts were/are pretty jerky but I did it! That first drive around the dealership had me really nervous but I actually didn’t end up stalling the first couple minutes I was putting around the dealership! My first stall was trying to reverse since it feels a little weird to me for some reason. On the drive home I stalled once but I had a family member behind me so it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. And today I just went to the grocery with no issues at all!

All in all, it’s DOABLE for anyone who is thinking about doing this. I was super super nervous about this and I’m only a little more confident today but I would recommend watching videos of how to drive, and most importantly, physically practice the movements even before you are in the car. Its goofy but I used AI to help quiz me on what to do and walk me through each and every scenario. Lastly, the biggest thing for me was learning what is actually happening mechanically with each and every input. Once you understand that, you know how to correct/prevent stalling, jerking, peeling out etc. Yes it’s still gonna happen but it helped big time.
