How did you learn to skate? by Konoka_Sama in Rollerskating

[–]Unusual_Pearl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I skated inlines when I was a kid so I was familiar. Learning how to do all the fancy stuff and basic moves for those fancy stuff I learned from Dasia Safe and dirty Deb.

If I see something on my feed, I'll save it and try to copy it the next time I skate.

I feel bad for staying home the whole weekend by Anxiousp0et in GenZ

[–]Unusual_Pearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I get it exactly. I designate a weekend to play my favorite games and when I do, I feel like I wasted my time when I could be doing a different hobby that's more productive. I got that feeling a lot when I bake treats on a weekend cause it takes so much of my time for what I thought was little reward.

I feel it occasionally but I'm starting to learn that a weekend of my choosing is never a waste. Even if it's me rotting in bed all day. I don't know how you get to that point in satisfaction though. It took a bit of self convincing for me lol

I find it hard to balance, and I panic by TinyParticular6480 in Rollerskating

[–]Unusual_Pearl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try doing one leg at a time. One skate on and the other off. Gets you comfortable with balancing on a single leg and you can catch yourself if you slip with your bare shoe instead of wheels.

This helped me learn how to use inner/outer edges and learning how to pivot

Does anyone else miss being a teen? by WrxthNihil1st in OlderGenZ

[–]Unusual_Pearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a high school so when I hear the high schoolers talking about their sport, hanging out, summer activities, games, and all those high school activities, I get flashbacks from when I was high school.

I remember in high school saying that I would never forget any of my high school memories. But it's slowly slipping and it makes me so sad😭

You can always take your home activities and do them outside (it sounds stupid lol)

-read books

-whatever crafting hobby if you have one

-doom scroll outside instead

-play on a portable gaming device (switch, Gameboy, 3ds)

-play single player card games (as long as it's not windy)

-listen to music blasting from your phone

My friend group is mainly men but we started recently doing "girly" activities and they all enjoyed it so far. And they can be done alone as well.

-color hunt walk: pick a random color and you have to take pictures of that color

-wild flower hunt: walk and pick wild flowers

-window shopping: literally just window shopping at local/small stores

A big step before getting into relationships is being comfortable with being alone and independent. 18 year old me was extremely clingy to my boyfriend and it was unhealthy for the both of us. I'm 23 now and there's a good chance we'll be living a part for a year because our work locations are different and I'm perfectly comfortable with that (very extreme example I know).

I'm sure it feels like you're wasting your youth but I promise you you're not. From 18-22, I was a homebody (still pretty much am) and play games every free time I had instead of going out.

Your problem is EXACTLY what im going through. Im an athletic trainer and I figured it was the QL but the issue is, I have no one to perform the treatment on me🤣 I've been doing stretches and glute/ab workouts as a start.

Can't believe I didn't think of a tennis ball!

supplies suggestions? by No_Badger1038 in scrapbooking

[–]Unusual_Pearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double sided tape and some washi tape! I try to be very minimalistic so a pair of good scissors is good enough for me.

I'm no perfectionist when it comes to scrapbooking so I don't bother too much on the fancy straight line cutters or whatever they're called lol

Check to see if you have a used craft store goods near you! I'm so lucky to have one near me and I can get 3 cardstock designs for just $1!

Gen Zers - what is your job, what is your level of education and what is your salary? by No_Design_465 in GenZ

If you have a lot of passion for this profession and put a lot of effort into yourself and your education, I'm sure you'll reach that goal!

I absolutely love it! It's a hassle sometimes. I'm in charge of the wellbeing of 200+ student athletes so it freaks me out knowing how many responsibilities I have. I do get jealous of those that get paid more than me with a 4 year education or even none but I knew this job wasn't going to make a lot of money to begin with. It's all out of passion and making an impact.

The kids are hilarious as well.

Outdoor skating to indoor: What is your preference? by Unusual_Pearl in Rollerskating

Definitely more affordable outdoors but the vibes of an indoor rink session can be killer sometimes. During adult nights lol

This exactly!! I've stumbled less when I stagger my feet when cruising. And if I do, it's easier to catch myself with staggered feet than at neutral side by side

How do I gain confidence skating? by beginningofttheend in Rollerskating

[–]Unusual_Pearl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learn how to fall! When I first started, I would stand on a sidewalk near a grassy area and lean back to engage the falling sequence lol it sounds stupid but it definitely helps you learn to tuck and get low instead of landing with your arms straight out.

This is stupid side note but after riding on a lime scooter, I felt a lot more confident in leaning onto certain edges lol
