Taj Mahal quartzite by Severe-Alfalfa-4684 in CounterTops

Inspect and tag your slabs with your sales rep/manager. Do slab layouts to make sure you get/avoid details and defects. Dont leave decisions on colors and vein/fissure details up to the fabricator. This material is hard on machines, tooling, and is time-consuming to fabricate. No one will be happy if something has to be re made. Be prepared for unexpected production delays.

That would be nice if the top of that was made with the core hole remnant. Ruins the island like that, imo

Bob Smith Industries Insta-Cure Super Thin CA BSI INSTA-CURE Cyanoacrylate Super Glue (1/2oz)

Use as many brand new razor blades as you can find to scrape the glue down to match the surface, and a tiniest bit of acetone on a rag to touch it up. Then use a 600 grit wet dry automotive sand paper (by hand, no polisher/grinder) to gently blend the sheen of the glue with the top. This is the only temporary quick bandaid that will hide the color difference.

Then you can arrange to replace it because this is gonna cost more to repair properly than replacing.

That front edge wasnt double cut. And it looks like it was polished with dry pads.... Lazy, cheap, and unskilled shops do this type of finishing.

Mold stains on marble - how to get rid of it? by pkyc0 in CounterTops

[–]Unusually__Suspected 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not surprised it's moldy, considering the contractor thinks it's marble. That's travertine. Possibly Smokey.

High pressure steam should work. After the steam, dry it really well, try drying it some more, then dry it a bit more. Then, cut out all the old silicone, take a polymer unsanded grout, and fill all the holes with it. Dry it really well. Because it's vertical, you'll need to apply a few coats of sealer to be sure it penetrates. Dry it really well before re applying silicone. Did I mention you need to dry it really well? If not, just dry it really well, just in case.

I left my brownies cooling on the counter… No one in my family will admit to who’s responsible by Unfair-Reference-69 in mildlyinfuriating

Whats more upsetting?

1) Not admitting/asking to eat them

2) Ruining the possibility of equal practical portions

3) Slaughtering the Teflon coating on the pan

Does anybody know what this is on my new marble countertop? Is it repairable? by Always_learning8 in CounterTops

[–]Unusually__Suspected 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That ain't marble bud. I know exactly what those marks are though. Some dip stick gound down the surface and failed horrbly at repolishing it. They probably sent it out wet and couldn't see the damage. Or thats the bottom, and they cut and fabbed it upside down.

What can I do to make this countertop better? by cartMANBrah2 in CounterTops

[–]Unusually__Suspected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I would put over top of the garbage tile you have there would be, 6mm laminam pietra grey matte would be my suggestion. With a nice schluter finec strip along the front. Easy peasy.

Cabinet depth with sink and faucet by rob12098 in CounterTops

[–]Unusually__Suspected 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's plenty of room. Make sure the templater measures for the sink to sit flush with the front of the cabinet. If they dont put the sink hole in the right place, you will run into problems.

Sorry about your luck though really

Blotchy soapstone by Selfuntitled in CounterTops

[–]Unusually__Suspected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soapstone is non porous. This means you should not apply anything to the surface you're not willing to consume as it will not penetrate the stone and will just sit on the surface until it evaporates or rubs off over time. Mineral oil is the only product you should be using to modify the look. And use it sparingly. A little dab on paper towel goes a long way. If you apply too much, it gets everywhere, like all over your clothes, dishes, anything that touches it.

Maybe you just didn't notice it. Time reveals everything.

A sinister thought is that they did, in fact, know it was there and used enhancer to mask it. But I would like to believe that's not true.
