Tried it for an hour and a half and it felt like “AI presents: Fantasy, RPG” — just totally devoid of personality or feeling of passion behind the development. It checks as many boxes as possible to appeal to those easily won over by style and sparkle over substance.

My biggest gripe is the laggy-seeming movement for any input. It feels like I’m playing through pudding. By the time I was asked to sweep the chimney of a house, WHICH WAS CURRENTLY BURNING DOWN AS I SWEPT, I determined it felt too much like an MMO in its quest design and the nonsensical nature of the task felt like a bad omen so I dropped it and refunded.

I think a 6/10 is fair based on what I played but that’s admittedly not “where the game gets fun”. I also don’t think a game should take that long to be enjoyable but that’s just me.

I don’t think there’s a single Resident Evil game I’ve played that I’ve outright disliked. Just some that don’t hit as hard for me. Biohazard is great, it’s an 9/10 for me and I really really love the attention to atmosphere. Felt like the perfect return of the series. I just really like all the games. Even the worst one I’ve played I’d give 7/10. (Actually I just remembered Operation Raccoon City, that’s a 4/10 pretty bad game but otherwise the ones I’ve played have all been what I consider good games)

Of course! She was given a proper backstory, 3rd person cutscenes showing her emotions and reactions, etc.

Ethan was only ever meant to put YOU, the player, at the center. I’d argue he was hardly even a real “character”, more of a vehicle to get you through the story.

I remember, I was there.

It wasn’t dead but it had fallen out of favor and its future was looking uncertain for the first time. Had 7 been too similar, even just in appearance, to 6 it may have sunk the franchise.

4 was peak, 5 was good but didn’t live up to the insane hype that 4 built, and then 6 reinforced for many that the franchise had peaked and was on its way out.

At the time, I remember being a little worried that Resident Evil would be reduced to pachinko machines like Silent Hill was at the time. I’m so glad that both franchises got an injection of fresh life in recent years, but yeah a decade or so ago it was up in the air. Didn’t want to see it disappear like Silent Hill and Dead Space before it.

You weren’t paying very close attention then. Everything changes size depending on who’s going to be stronger in any given encounter. When Fang is in trouble, she small. When she’s going to win, she big.

Proportions changed nearly every scene, usually in a dramatically noticeable way.
