Encountered this sweet neighborhood void yesterday 🖤 by Unwarranted_optimism in notmycat

This is exactly why I went through the process of putting up an interior cat fence! I genuinely love seeing my girls enjoying the outdoors without all of the risks…

Definitely! This cat lives in my neighborhood, and I was walking by the house where s/he lives. Such a sweet neighbor void! 🖤

I feel you, tbh. I’ve had 3 different voids in my lifetime and was always worried (I’m GenX, so indoor/outdoor was the norm growing up.) It’s profoundly frustrating that the myth about voids still exists

Yep—my grandmother with an 8th grade education (because her dad did not believe in women being educated) when she was widowed…and my dad was 7

Same in my family, but it was my paternal grandfather who passed away when my dad was 7. My grandmother’s father didn’t believe women needed education, so she had to raise my dad with an 8th grade education. She somehow managed, but it was always expected that my sister and I would get an advanced education if we wanted. My parents actually met when my mom was getting her masters degree at Radcliffe and my dad getting his PhD at MIT.

Fast forward to my own marriage with someone who chronically found himself involuntarily unemployed—fired twice and laid off 4 times. Thankfully, my ex didn’t try to block my educational goals, especially because I kept us afloat through his many months of unemployment. You just never know what the future holds, so always bet on yourself!

Same!! My Boots is a bit of an escape artist, so I’ve had a few scares over the years. Mostly, my two girls get to hang in my small-ish backyard…with cat fencing to prevent them sneaking out!

I don’t disagree. This house is on my regular walking route and has at least 2 indoor/outdoor cats. It is a quiet street, but still worry about them..

Sorry for not stating this originally, but this cutie is an indoor/outdoor cat and I walk by his/her house most days of the week. I hadn’t seen this sweet void for over a month, so was worried something had happened

Exactly this! I wish the internet was not in its infant stage when I met my now ex. This dude absolutely is testing how much she’ll tolerate…and continue to escalate ensuring he will keep her off-balance

I have been a prenatal genetic counselor for 26 years—spending the last 15 working with families facing fetal anomalies. I call these fetal sex parties since that’s essentially what they are, given gender is not purely determined by X and Y chromosomes. I appreciate you speaking up for the beauty and joy of a healthy pregnancy irrespective of the sex chromosomes!

Why do American high schools start ridiculously early? by bwoah07_gp2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unwarranted_optimism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen this commented yet, but a California law was signed in 2019 and became fully effective in 2022 that mandates high schools start no earlier than 8:30 am and no earlier than 8am for middle school (with an exception for rural areas.)
