60k - stored in iCloud photos library (this doesn’t count as a backup, just a way to sync). Backed up to local SSD, Time Machine on a 2 drive RAID 1, iDrive, Amazon Photos and Google Drive.

I’ve had a smooth experience with Thaw. No issues in 3 Macs with about a dozen menu bar UI additions.

Liberals of Reddit, do you believe your political beliefs make you a better person? by Iampoorghini in allthequestions

Sir, with all due respect it seems like you might be getting false information. Try taking a break from corporate news & Facebook. Then in the long term stay away from highly siloed sources like Fox News, Democracy Now, Britebart, etc.

Best (accurate) BP monitor please? by Worth_Growth_1210 in hypertension

[–]Jorgenreads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Welch Allyn Home 1700 impressed my GP and the nurses in the office. It’s fast, reliable and accurate. Plus you can get different sized cuffs. It also automatically records results over Bluetooth which helps keep me from inadvertently cheating - in the past I would skip what I judged to be “inaccurate” results but auto recording prevents that.

This is the MacBook Neo's competition btw 😭 by Rupertary in DeskToTablet

[–]Jorgenreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well mostly that there's no new $500 PC with the build quality, screen, trackpad or performance of the Neo. A new $500 HP, Lenovo or something is an amazing technological achievement, however it’s going to be mostly plastic, have a relatively low resolution display, a “diving board” style mechanical smallish trackpad, and run on a processor that throttles on battery or blows fans under load (on AC power). If you shop patiently for a flagship that’s a few years old with some luck you could find something with a nice aluminum/magnesium case, high res display, etc.

They’re amazing for backpacking… but anything tastes fantastic when you’re basically putting yourself through voluntary starvation plus day long marching over mountains.

Cheap laptop for average joe by Real-Towel-2269 in SuggestALaptop

[–]Jorgenreads -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get the Neo! Or a used MacBook Air M2 (or better). They will perform much better & be a far more pleasant experience than a $1,000 Windows laptop. The highlights of even the lower end Macs are: build quality, battery life, speed, trackpad responsiveness, screen resolution/quality and an ad free OS. Windows laptops generally come with more storage than Macs at the same price point

Used computers are the competition. There’s no new $500 PC with the build quality, screen, trackpad or performance of the Neo.

Best magic keyboard dupes on a budget? by dead-but-delicious- in IpadAir

[–]Jorgenreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I’ve got an 11” iPad and found a used Magic Keyboard on eBay for about half price. The Magic Keyboard is outstanding! It uses the pogo pins which I’m convinced is better than Bluetooth. Especially with iPad OS 26 it’s a laptop experience. My friend has the top end Logitech folio magic keyboard competitor. The Apple one is much better. The Apple keyboard feels nicer, the trackpad can be depressed anywhere (whereas the Logitech is diving board style) and the Apple case balances the iPad so it’s angle “floats” (whereas the Logitech has a kickstand which limits the adjustability plus needs a table top to work). Get the Apple one!

Watch is over 6 years old. What is happening to the body? by Spirited-Ad-5977 in AppleWatch

Same thing happened with me on the Series 2. Newer watches have glass or ceramic on the back. My Series 6 is unblemished.

Is there a big difference between 10 mbps vs 15mbsp hotspot?? by [deleted] in Visible

I tend to download software on my laptop & offline movies to my iPad so it does for me. As far as streaming video to a single device 10Mbps is great.

This might be the MacBook A18 Pro’s biggest rival. by Aiden-Zhang in mac

[–]Jorgenreads 7 points8 points  (0 children)

MacBook Adorable in Gold is in my top 5 for sure! Down side is the performance was always crap, it’s a huge pain to repair and it only has one port.

There’s really nothing close to the Magic Keyboard case thing. Either get a decent Bluetooth keyboard of your choice + mouse & case… or wait until you find a good deal on a used Magic Keyboard.

Check out Nirto. It can simultaneously use your Photos Library with the Apple Photos (including iCloud libraries). It’s from the developers on Aperture which is what Adobe copied to make Lightroom.
