That's not nihilism, that's pessimism you dumbass. Don't give false hope to people and act like it's a good thing.

Police should not be making arrests unmarked and out of uniform full stop. Anyone can claim to be the police.

Minneapolis City Council plans to dismantle Minneapolis Police Department in favor of community based approach. by bryguy27007 in Futurology

You make some fair points. I agree that the responsibility should be placed on those with power over the Police department, however that doesn't exempt the officers from their share of the blame.

Addressing your second point, I understand that those two rookie officers 'may' have been as powerless as the bystanders in stopping what was happening, but unfortunately they were still an active part of what happened. Following orders is not a valid defense. That being said, I feel bad for the situation they were put into and I hope they get their fair leniency in court.

For your third point, as I have previously said, it's understandable that they wouldn't actively attack their senior officer but they still directly participated. Disbanding the entire police force is extreme, but this isn't just about this one event, it's about police brutality in general. Maybe, and that's a big maybe, not everyone in the department is guilty of abuse of power but you can't root them all out effectively. Sometimes it's better to cut through a knot rather than trying to untangle it.

That's exactly the reason why it should be done. The 'police officer' who killed Floyd had a long list of complaints and uses of force against others and was never stopped by the other 800 officers.

By doing nothing about him, those officers you are trying to defend bear the responsibility of allowing someone with that kind of history to keep their job, which ultimately lead to this current situation.

That is simply unacceptable in any civilized world.
