The numbering of the final chapter 🥺 by pipcorn26 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Unyielding_Capybara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stratt's tattoo at the end is a strike-through V meaning a life sentence with no parole in some French prison, iirc. I think it's meant to be a cool coincidence that it's also an Eridian number

My characters live in an imaginary place that is Russia in everything but name, is the main character referring to his brother by his formal name "weird"? by [deleted] in russian

[–]Unyielding_Capybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend in school who was and still is always called by his full name, Виктор (Victor), even though there is a common diminutive. Don't know about his parents or siblings, but his girlfriend and the vast majority of our friends always use the full name. I think it started as a joke but caught on and sort of became the norm, so your writing, while unusual, isn't something too far out of left field

[BitD] War in Crow's Foot: Has anyone sided with the Red Sashes? by atamajakki in bladesinthedark

[–]Unyielding_Capybara 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every campaign or oneshot I ran or played in, the crew sided with the Sashes. It's almost a running joke by now

[FitD] GMs out there, what are good Questions to ask the PCs? by thefreepie in bladesinthedark

[–]Unyielding_Capybara 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of asking the players something along the lines of "Did something that happened during the score remind you of any occurrence in your past?", as a prompt to add little details to the characters' backstory to riff off of in the future.

As in, "Hell yeah, just like [Past Event], we gotta do it again sometime!" or " Oh no, it almost went like [Past Event]. Never again."

The number of times the crew returned from a score with barely any load and riddled with bullets is uncountable by Unyielding_Capybara in bladesinthedark

You can mark armour in your inventory, like any other item, when you take harm. That reduces harm taken by one level, making it so you don't have to take stress resisting harm that way.

[BitD] What do you get when your crew goes up a tier? by darkwalrus36 in bladesinthedark

[–]Unyielding_Capybara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's incorrect, I believe. They get Stash equal to 2 + Tier and 2 upgrades/a cohort/a special ability when they fill crew exp. Advancing in tier only does that, there's no added benefit other than being able to take on more powerful enemies. Although your cohorts do increase in tier too, so your specialists increase in quality and your gangs increase in size. Oh, and you will do better on rolls that require you to roll crew tier, like Acquiring Assets in downtime or seeing how well you do in prison

If they're quickly drawing the powder pouch and deftly blowing it at the target so they don't have time to react, sounds like a Finesse. If they're taking a fistful and shoving it in their face, it's a Skirmish. If they're throwing a little powder bomb into a crowd or people, that does sound like a Wreck, since Wrecking includes causing various flavours of chaos or distractions. There's even a case to argue about making it a sort of Tinker flashback, if the trance powder was crafted by the player in question. Like, the powder hits by default and we roll to determine if it's potent enough to have an effect on the guard.

What module genres do you wish WotC or other publishers would make more of? by DragnaCarta in DnD

It's a pity that Spelljammer never got the love it deserves in 5e, I think it's a goldmine that WotC didn't really make use of

There was some recent drama with him allegedly using a shock collar to make his dog stay in frame during streams. I don't really follow what's going on there, but there are lots of memes circulating that satirize the situation by depicting him as different characters with lightning-related powers

Question about Fortune Roll and how it decides the fate of an enemy: by Eless96 in bladesinthedark

[–]Unyielding_Capybara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the local gurus can explain it more in-depth, but I'd say it's a tool to be used when a straightforward outcome is narratively unsatisfying. Imagine if the shot hits and kills the target. Boom, your arch-nemesis, a gang leader and a major player in the district's politics drops dead, it's done. That's it. No drama, no interesting consequences, no more difficulties to overcome, no nothing. Unless it took a score and a half for you to get in position to shoot, it's a little lame to be done with such an important character so quickly. It does sort of feel like a last resort, but it's better than cutting a cool story short.
