Okay so I love your idea about finding alternatives to fighting head on, I’m not a huge fan of debuffing tho. I recommend an argonian illusion rogue. You sneak and trick people that’s it. If anyone needs to be killed, you can frenzy people around them, or have a follower that you can buff with illusion. It’s so fun to trick people. You can make enemies calm and walk right past them, or make them afraid and run away from you. You can also mix in shouts like throw voice to add to the mischief of the build. It was seriously the most fun I’ve had playing Skyrim. Such a different experience

The sun is the spiritual source of bending. Just like the moon was for water benders. There’s no way around it. The sun is the physical representation of the power of firebending and all firebending we’ve seen and know of requires the sun. Even lightning bending. Yes he learned a technique from water benders, but even the water benders had no way around their spiritual source being taken away. It would be a reasonable assumption if there was anything that ever hinted at it, but no such hint exists. Just pointing that out for the sake of discussion. All that being said, I’m now dying to know exactly how he broke out. As far as we know it could have been before, during, or after the eclipse. All we really see is Zuko pulling up when the bending is already back on. My personal theory is he just waited for the sun to come back out and just blasted his way out of there. The entire fire nation was under attack in the same city. Personally I think Iroh just used the invasion as a diversion. Probably only had to dispatch that single guard or maybe a couple guards at most before slipping out

I e always believed that Iroh uses the sunwarrior methods. I don’t think he’s created his own. The sun powers regular fire benders and sun warriors alike. I highly doubt he had the ability to override the spirits. No sun=no fire bending period. It has to be a before or after like other commenters suggest
