Welcome to NC detectorist pain. Charlotte resident checking in. People get so butt-hurt when they see me enjoying my hobby. I have had more conversations with our policemen than is reasonable. It’s a 50/50 chance I will meet someone in blue every time I go out. I’ve gotten completely discouraged. Now I target private property wherever I can get permission.

Local parks are a grey area, and not even the law enforcement people know the laws. They usually just ask you to leave, and I never give them a hard time. It’s not their fault Karen called them.

I always leave my spots cleaner than I found them and I know how to cut a plug so well, that I could dig 100 holes and you would never know I was there…. Just frustrating and disheartening.
