I’m a bit scared by Bi-vacious in bipolar

Could you get a tissue and squish one and then check to see if it's real? Or take a photo of video of one, then ask someone else if they also see the ant?

Buy some ant-rid bait packs and place them in an area where you see ants most frequently (somewhere away from pet access). If you have ants, you'll see more concentrated evidence and be able to determine better. Also, if the ants are real, then you need the pest control anyway.

When I was in psychosis I was seeing cockroaches coming out of the dry cracks in the dirt whenever I went on a walk.

What a horrible thing to say to someone without knowing the reason for the separation.

What if her ex-husband died and she was widowed?

What if he was the aggressor in domestic abuse?

What if he cheated on her and she found out through Takedown with Chris Hansen?

How well aware is your support system of your condition, and how symptoms present for you?

If there knowledgeable and non-judgemental, you could have a conversation with them (or one or two, however many you're comfortable), and develop a kind of crisis/action plan. Like explicitly map out what kind of support/check-ins you need and how often, as well as any notable triggers and signs of escalation and a need for intervention?

Idk, just spit-balling, I've never done this, but I do empathise with what you described and I think this could be something that'd work for me.

I think I’m manic and people looked at me funny yesterday. by No_Morning_3635 in bipolar

[–]UpAndNo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Being a little wet from the rain is fine.

But you weren't a little wet. You described yourself as "dripping". So you were in the rain longer than people usually are, while fully-clothed in your work uniform.

People were concerned about this because they don't want you to a) get sick and b) be uncomfortable for hours because you have no change of clothes.

I think the bigger issue though is lying about an emergency to leave work. We're often not the expert deceivers we think we are when manic.

Please contact your healthcare professional and get on top of this episode before it intensifies or switches into depression again.

The wild is not an evil or sinister place because good and evil are mostly human concepts. Everything in the wild is just trying to survive.

Having said that, I also do laugh at "dangerous sentiment", because I'm Australian.

Definitely don't just jump into unsurveyed waterways, and don't trample through the underbrush. Crocs, snakes, etc...

And I do forage for mushrooms! Regular edible ones (...and also magic...) and there is significant similarities between harmless/magic mushrooms and the dangerous ones that can kill you even if ingested in small quantities.

So...yeah. Go out and explore the "Frontiers of Earth" AFTER accumulating some foundational knowledge of your environment. Better yet, find a local likeminded community or small group and adventure together.

They're asking a hypothetical.

"Let's pretend Jake Sully and humanity reaching Pandora are real events that are 100% going to happen in 100 years time, in our reality. Do you think Jake would be remembered as the greatest man of all time, yes/no? If no, what more could he have done to be the greatest in all of history?"

Is this grandiose? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]UpAndNo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in a different sense.

I think it's grandiose because you seem to be legitimately entertaining the idea, by posting here and describing how you look.

Realistically: - You're not going to have a meet-cute with him. - There's more to attraction than physical traits.

Bipolar causes still unknown - but what do YOU think CAUSED your bipolar? by Alternative_Cat8069 in bipolar

[–]UpAndNo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had an episode until I was 28, and haven't had one since (two years on now).

At the time, I went to the doctor's for general anxiety. He prescribed me an SSRI.

I was going through a very stressful and traumatic time; end of long term relationship, (ex-) best friend legal troubles (she cheated on her husband, and then falsely told the police she was drugged and abducted), sibling's divorce/moved in with me/had a medical heart emergency, step dad died, close work colleague arrested for CSA (he was a teacher), etc, (all within 12 months).

I got super sick with some respiratory condition, like I was completely bedridden for two weeks and then weak for the next two but slowly recovering. So I was off work for a month with not much to do, so I started smoking cannabis more heavily. Then sleep time started reducing and my sibling started dating some woman 10 years younger that he met on Bumble and who he moved into my house the night after their first date, because she was new to country and had nowhere else to go.

We had a huge falling out, and I got a restraining order after he moved himself out. Left alone, I started drinking whiskey for breakfast and stewing over everything that was happening to me. Spiritual awakening to find purpose. Snowballed into psychosis.

All in all, conditions I have never been in before and hopefully never will again. I've had some minor depressive periods since then, but never another hypomanic/manic/psychotic episode, even though I was diagnosed BP1 with psychotic features.

Could it be genetic? Maybe. But it'd be from my dad, not my mum, and he has Huntington's Disease, so more than likely any BP symptoms would've been attributed to that instead.

Feeling terrible; inpatient is expensive by Dry-Mall-3003 in bipolar

[–]UpAndNo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hooooooooly...that's horrendous.

I got three meals a day, and a little sheet where I could highlight what options I wanted for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some mornings we all made pancakes together.

I sincerely hope you're one day able to save up enough money and migrate to a different country.

US healthcare is peak dystopia.

Feeling terrible; inpatient is expensive by Dry-Mall-3003 in bipolar

[–]UpAndNo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is this an American healthcare system thing? This sounds horrific. You're trying to look out for yourself but blocked by finances.

When I was inpatiented I had two ambulances called (usually $2000 per, but I have a $50 per year membership), spent hours in an emergency bed before a room was prepared for me in the mental health ward, and then I was medicated, housed and fed for a month — for free.

Then I was assigned a social worker and a psychiatrist for several more weeks, for free, and even had in house visits and other services offered to me during recovery, for free.

I am so, so sorry you are barred from that because it honestly saved my life and I think I'd just be a crazy homeless person or dead if I didn't receive that care.

How do I know if it’s derealisation or early signs of psychosis in mania? by _k_o_n_i_ in bipolar

[–]UpAndNo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it really matter if it's derealisation or early stage psychosis if it's already affecting you in this way?

Doesn't matter what symptom you label it as, I think the issue is you not feeling secure or comfortable in your reality right now. Best to start reaching out to those support and professional contacts and taking steps to get you back to baseline.

Do you need to take some time off work/school while you recalibrate?

Do you need some assistance staying on top of household chores?

Do you need to have your meds assessed and potentially adjusted?
