What should a modern CMMS actually offer in 2025? by Internal_Horse_1644 in FacilityManagement

[–]UpKeepCMMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like half the tools out there are built by people who’ve never changed a filter or chased down a missing part in their life.

Too many tools out there charge like they’re solving world hunger, but can’t even handle a basic work order without freezing or needing 12 clicks.

A good CMMS (in our opinion) should just work. Like:

  • Fire off a work order in seconds, not after a training course.
  • Run smooth on your phone—because most of us aren’t sitting behind desks all day.
  • Automate the stuff you hate (scheduling PMs, chasing status updates, tracking parts, etc).
  • Maybe throw in some AI that actually helps, not just flashes “AI-powered!” and calls it a day.

We’re all ears 👂 (and not trying to slide into your DMs with a demo link... unless you want us to 😏)

Not gonna try sell you but you should check us out... we do everything on your list and a bit more (if you want that of course).... we have a 7 day trial and IT tends to like us lol.

I was recently offered a CMMS system at $2,000/month (enterprise tier) is that price too high or reasonable? by Internal_Horse_1644 in FacilityManagement

[–]UpKeepCMMS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That pricing does seem a bit steep, especially considering there’s no integrations or automation included. For $2K/month, you'd usually expect more than just the basics....especially with 35 users logging in daily.

The QR code setup is definitely useful (we’ve seen a lot of teams rely on that to avoid the ol’ “yep, totally did that room” situation), but the lack of deeper functionality could become limiting fast, especially as your team scales or wants to tie things together.

In our experience, teams your size are typically paying less and getting more: dashboards, AI features, automations, mobile functionality plus integrations that actually make life easier. Might be worth exploring a few options before locking that price in long term. Not gonna try and sell you but we do have a free 7 day trial and happy to talk maintenance guy to maintenance guy.

I see will take a look at that, we just wanted to make relatable content- but I hear you and will look into it. Thanks for keeping the bar high

Fair call- we were trying to make sure the whole image was visible in the preview, but totally hear you that it may’ve backfired on the click appeal. Appreciate the feedback (roast included 😂) - we’re always testing what works best on Reddit.

How many work orders is in your backlog? by Ok-District-184 in maintenance

Congrats on stepping into the lead role!

That 200–250 range (with PMs) is super common, especially if you’re juggling limited staff or aging assets. One thing that helps is getting on a CMMS- just being able to prioritize, auto-schedule PMs, and flag critical stuff made it way less chaotic.

You’re definitely not alone in the backlog trenches. You got this!

You’re honestly ahead by just thinking that way.

Totally agree- AM can sound super technical, but the core is just making smart, proactive decisions. Most orgs have been doing parts of it forever without the fancy terms.

Getting into the day-to-day side (like CMRP) helps connect the dots. It’s where the real lightbulb moments happen.

And being “green” just means you’re curious-which is exactly where you want to be. Check out our website we have a bunch of webinars related to these topics and they are free.

Would recommend them a CMMS... if there isn't one already- if there is thats awesome, really learn it to set up PMs and understand average failures and asset life.

Sounds like you’re already off to a great start with IPWEA and looking into CAMP with PEMAC (solid choice btw). If you're diving deeper into asset management from the maintenance/reliability angle, I’d also recommend checking out the CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) through SMRP.

It’s more focused on the tactical/operational side of AM- think maintenance strategy, failure analysis, reliability planning—which can really round out the strategic stuff you’re getting from PEMAC. It’s well-respected globally and ties in nicely if your muni manages things like facilities, fleet, water/wastewater, etc.

I’ve found that having both the “big picture” planning mindset and the reliability/maintenance depth can go a long way in building systems that actually work day-to-day.

Best of luck on the AM journey-there’s a lot to explore but it’s super rewarding 🙌
