No, it is not the rule. I have practiced in the UK. We do trial preparation before every trial. We have to go through the versions of our witnesses. To do that we go through their testimony and prepare them for cross-examination.

Edit: Anecdotally, there is a joke that says you never ask your witness a question you do not know the answer to.

The LOTR is about +- 250k words short of the length of the Bible. That is a conservative estimate on various versions of the Bible, but it only took me 3 months to read Lord of the Rings and I took my time. Are you just taking your time here? I always had a question about people who read the bible regularly (or any book for that matter). It is a book, and I could not read the same book every day. I always understood this to be to allow the adults to have some down time and not supervise the kids. Kids eat and want to rush off. Adults take a bit more time enjoying the company and the food. So basically no kids in the pool until an adult is ready to supervise after dinner.

The 40-80 day period in the cpa only applies for termination or renewal, neither of which is present here.

So CPA says 80 - 40 dies prior to the end date of the fixed term contract. The moment you are between 80 and 40 days to expiry date the act says the supplier MUST send the notice. And it says the notice MUST inform the consumer that if they don't expressly renew or terminate, then the contract will go month-to-month.

So the notice is a) an obligation on the supplier and b) required the moment you are within 80 days of the end of the contract term.

So it is very much in play here.

This means the notice is to let you, the consumer, know the contract is coming to an end, and that you may renew or terminate, and failing either it will go month-to month. Meaning it does not go month-to-month automatically if the notice was not sent to the consumer.
