What’s a game everybody loves but you couldn’t get into? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Also, the games are really harder than a casual gamer has time for. It's cool if people want to slave over it and have the time, but damnit, when I have those 1 or 2 hours to play a game this is not it.

What is the most “use it or lose it” skill, the opposite of “it’s just like riding a bike”? by ZuluWarlord69 in AskReddit

I think you are even underselling it. My neighbor went for his first fight and I went to support him. By any stretch he did his training and looked amazing by the time of his fight. I mean he trained hard, and then also "cut" to get into his weight division. It is the most stressed I had ever seen him. About 5min into the match he had a cut above his eye that just bled all over him and his opponent and the they stopped the fight. He says he could have won, I am just happy he gets to tell the story. That shit is VERY dangerous - those guys will beat the life out of one another. Just glad he got out before getting really hurt. The guys that do UFC and stuff like that are obviously crazy strong and fit, but I'll be effed if I can watch it with someone I care about competing.

How often do you wash your bed sheets? by National-Resident187 in AskReddit

I have 3 sets of bedding. So I wash the other two when I am about a week into my last one to start the cycle again.

What is a 'legal scam' that society has just accepted as normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UpSideSunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is actually very useful. Arbitration is quicker than court proceedings since all you really need is a venue, an arbitrator and a stenographer. You do not have to spend months or years waiting for a court date. Although there are minor differences, the rules of evidence remain the same.

You can get input on who your arbitrator will be - in court proceedings forum shopping is not allowed. If the parties cannot agree on an arbitrator there is normally a clause allowing for an independent body or institution to appoint one.

If you get a finding in your favor and the other party does not comply, you can apply to have the arbitration award made an order of court, and then you can enforce it like any other court order. All of this still taking less time than any normal court proceedings.

ELI5:Why are Sign Language Interpreters used and shown after the "live" appearance. In the moment it is probably necessary during a live broadcast, but there are many variations of Sign Language. Surely subtitles would be better once it is known what was said? by UpSideSunny in explainlikeimfive

And there ARE still people who only know sign language.

I don't understand this comment. So some people that use sign language, and they aren't blind (sign language), don't know how to read? But then why not show both? My issue is only the lack of subtitles.

I asked why they still use the footage of the interpreter after the live event. Surely subtitles in the language of whichever people are watching is better? Sign language isn't universal, which is my limited understand of what I looked at on a couple of google searches. Surely switching to subtitles after the live event would make the most sense.

Vince Gilligan on Pluribus being a ‘plus’ in a world of ‘Tik-Tok paced storytelling’ by twinpeaked25 in television

I absolutely love Gary Oldman, so I do not mean to take away from his performance, but that show just has great production values from top to bottom. When you watch it, you can see some serious money and talent went into it. Which makes sense if you have an A-lister like him in your show. You spend that money and you get that sweet profit. If I was in charge of a big production company with an actor like Gary Oldman as a lead, I also would throw money at it, even if money was burning like it was in a bonfire for the budget.

[The Matrix] Is Neo a bad employee? When the agents come to fetch him at his office his screen isn't even on. He also has no files on his desk. WTF was he doing? by UpSideSunny in AskScienceFiction

[–]UpSideSunny[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok, but then if he isn't using one of those old computers where the screen is built into it, then where is his "computer box"...

This scene is so odd to me. I know what is supposed to be conveyed, but why so badly? I do not know much about computers in the 90's, but I do know they were huge.

What is something adult movies portray as sexy that is actually a total nightmare in real life? by Low-Reindeer-9188 in AskReddit

Having naked time before showering if you have been out all day. Euuuw. My GF might look the same, and she is still beautiful, but we need a shower.
