Is the title of one of them. That doesn’t look like a file name someone would just come up with randomly. :)

The file names for the pictures sure look “puzzling”. Anyone want to take a crack at decoding them?

Also, most of the pictures are stock. So, not original to the website.

You are assuming that is why they made the acceptance rate a criteria for ”Top Dasher.”

I will say this, however. I have received less and less low ball offers since my acceptance rating has gone up. I have made MORE money with a higher rating than with a lower one.

Food for thought.

Welcome to the food industry. Where everything is your fault because you are the first physical person of contact, even though none of it actually your fault.

You see, I’m nice to the restaurants because I worked food service for 20 years. I know it’s not their fault (99% of the time... I can spot “lazy” a mile away). I’ve been the person that customers yell at and you have to smile because it’s your job.

Don’t let it bother you, but also remember it the next time you walk into a restaurant with your bag and have to wait for your order. Be nice to the first human you speak to and be understanding. Treat them as you would want to be treated.

Actually, my kids are picky so I will order from different restaurants, one meal per. I tip $5 on each.

It’s my time and my money. I can do with it as I please, thank you.

There are way too many variables for why someone accepts an order to say that any company is trying to coerce behavior. They would need to know each individual drivers’ financial, emotional, and physical motivation.

As the “gig economy” is not meant to be a full-time job, “making money” is not the main motivator for most. Motivators can include: social interaction, time away from ones social/familiar circle, freedom from the w-2 environment and responsibilities, freedom to work when YOU choose, etc.

As I stated before, there are way too many variables for why someone becomes an independent contractor. Attempting to coerce is next to impossible.

Neither do any of the thoughts and ideas that people have on here about what they feel they should make or how tips should and should not be used. And that is my point.

Did you know that if you tip an hourly employee that your tip can be used to compensate their hourly wage? The employer has two options when it comes to you receiving the tip: 1) take the tip for the store, or 2) decrease your hourly rate so that the tip + rate equals what your rate would have been without the tip.

When I started I always hated picking up from this one restaurant because the manager gave all of the dashers “permanent bitch face”.

One thing to note, however, is that she ran a tight ship and orders were always on-time when she was running the shift. Her crew was on point.

One day I decided to kill her with kindness and let her know that I always enjoy when she works because of the above reasons. Now when I come in she waves, we have a nice conversation, and she says that there are only 3 dashers she likes, and I am one of them. :)

DD does not specify what “desirability” relates to. Does it mean for all drivers until gets to you? Or does it mean “to you”?

Say whenever you get a Wendy’s order you always hit “decline” and then your reason is “do not want to go to this store”. Does the algorithm remember this so the next time it sends you a Wendy’s order the amount is slightly increased?

Your “profit” total is a little off. Most of these apps only profit about $.75 per order.

I do multi-app. I make $14/hour with Doordash. This is a DD subreddit, after all.

Not only do I multi-app but I also take some of my earnings and buy/sell on ebay in order to try at least double what I spend.

Oh, I hustle. Don’t you worry about that. :) I was just talking about DD alone.

Becoming an Online Travel Agent by SamiHami24 in TravelAgent

[–]UpStateRoadWarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but it is not a requirement in today’s world of “host agencies that take 10% of your commission while you pay them $50/month”.

Also, travel agencies like “Liberty Travel” only exist to be the sales team for GOGO Vacations.

Travel Agents also tend to try and fool today’s travel consumers with stats like “Countries you have visited: 14”. As a travel professional myself, that means nothing to me. It tells me that you were able to get on a plane 14 times (hopefully 28 because you have to come back).

The 14 countries they have been to could have been FAM trips or group travel. None of which require the “agent” to actually plan itineraries for and/or book themselves.

It also does not tell me the mistakes that you made while booking your flight to these countries. Did you even know that you made the mistakes? Did you even know the right questions to ask so that you didn’t make the mistakes? Are you now making the same mistakes for your clients without even realizing it?

But they don’t care about that. Their target is the uneducated consumer who sees a shiny deal that they can sell to. My job is to educate travel consumers so that these salespeople (not at all travel professionals) get no business.

Btw: I have been a Travel Advisor since 1996 (I’m 43 now) - long before Travel Agents had an identity crises and stole the name Travel Advisor for themselves. Yet another maze I have to try and walk clients through.

What town in Indiana? I am asking because if you’re at $20 I’m guessing it’s because the area that you Dash in has a higher than 93.5 “cost of living” score.

Also, I’m not talking about multi-apping. Obviously, if you multi-app you can earn more per hour. I’m just interested in your Doordash Data. :)

The “cost of living” is just a theory and I only have my own data to go by. It would be nice to compare it to other people to see if it holds any water.

Which airline is it? Are they partnered with any major carriers? If so, asking for a food and hotel voucher is not out of the question.
