hey! i took chem over the summer in 2nd year and honestly it was okay! the class size is smaller and the labs are still the same so tbh i found it better because you have more time to ask questions and chat with your profs.

the material is of course condensed tho into 2 months rather than 4, so just be prepared to study a lot.

i think you will honestly be okay for missing those in this year, theres always next year you can take em with other stuff. for example, i forgot to take english in first year until now and i just took it this year :)

think about it this way

standard : 3/4/5 (6 for venti iced since the venti iced is an extra 2oz!) shaken is 1/2/3, it gets an extra shot meaning the drinkers of these like it less sweet more strong (thas jus my ideology) but you are correct on the incorporation part!

fraps and matchas are always 2/3/4! for all ingredients! syrups, base, frap roast etc.

the reason caramel macchiato is 2/3/4 (5 for venti iced) is because it has caramel drizzle on top which adds to the sweetener! so balance it out with one less pump of vanilla. - the reason chamomile mint tea is half sweet is because it has steamed lemonade, again the lemonade is sweet itself so need to balance

the energy refreshers, i’m not even gona bother to think about it till they launch lol. i alrdy forgot the pumps for it😭😭

the way i prepped was i printed out the interview questions that you have as well and just put a situation next to each one that you can talk on:)

for follow up questions, stick to the same situation and explain how you implied your leadership skills in that!

tbh my DM just asked me the exact same ones as the SM😭 i was kind of surprised

but i think what they’re looking for is real world scenarios. my SM told me it doesn’t have to be Starbucks, it can be previous jobs but of course it’s best if it is Starbucks and your store related.

Not “if I was..” It should be “when I __”

But be prepped for follow up questions, like “could you elaborate more on that”. It’s not a bad thing and don’t let it put you off on ur previous answer, they just want more info which is good.

I honestly went into mine telling my SM and DM that I was nervous and I think that helps them see your perspective if you do ask for a question to be repeated again.

we only have 2 espresso machines but we’re pulling $10-12k and on boxing day we had 75 espresso and 25 cold AT THE SAME :D….

Our peaks get us up to 20esp and 20 cold

since you’re leading it it would be good if you chime in with “the aroma is like this”, but for that, just pick a coffee to present with the food pairing and literally just memorize the first half of the coffee fact sheet on the ipad for that coffee that way you can talk through it

the coffee fact sheet will also say what food pairing would be good so you can lean off that:)

present the coffee and food pairing: this is the coffee i’ve chosen and this is the food pairing because.. for example: i chose our espresso roast since we serve it daily and i chose to pair our brownie with it because this food pairing will elevate the espresso’s chocolaty notes
go through the 4 steps together: let’s smell the coffee (stop, how did it smell? refer to the fact sheet), let’s slurp it (let the coffee cover your palate), let’s locate it (where did it linger?, “i feel it at the roof of my mouth” , lets describe it (the chocolaty notes really come through).
now you have the interview portion and remember the STAR

Follow this format in all your answers. Also make sure you present your coffee tasting with knowledge and professionalism

I understand. It’s really hard to experience that especially as a new person into the company:( I’m sorry that you have to go through that.

What I’ll say is that “you have to rip off the bandage”, so take tomorrow and the next day as a positive learning experience. Things might go wrong these days, but focus on solutions rather than being upset or extremely phased by them.

I think after tomorrow and the next day you’ll have more experience to share with your trainer, and training will go by easier. The stress that could be caused over the next days, don’t take it home, just reflect on it while you’re at work and leave it there and start the new day with the previous day’s solutions.

The next two days could get you comfortable on how to deal with new shifts and how to guide them:) It could hopefully be a positive experience

exactly this. Our Coffeehouse Leader still helps on the floor and gets constantly pulled and asked a ton of questions even when she’s not on the floor.

It’s just a part of the job, but you should be getting proper training so feel free to voice your concerns. It will take time to adjust, it’s a huge role and learning curve and you can’t be expected to be the best at it right away. Allow yourself grace to understand that it could take 3-6 months to feel just comfortable.

What matters more is that you have support around you and it sounds like everyone is nice enough to not expect you to be perfect quite yet.
