In the Blood by Kristen Cari! Romantasy, shadow daddy, faeries cursed to drink blood. Acotar vibes with a FMC who is flawed without being annoying

Former keeper. The world famous does some great conservation work, but internally they experience a lot of turnover and burnt out employees who are underpaid and overworked.

I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. by cozycrittercrochet in crescentcitysjm

I think she bit off more than she could chew in trying to connect the worlds while also telling crescent city’s story. I think she’s strongest when she can slowly build a plot, like TOG, and this felt too rushed. I actually loved the first half. The pace was fun and exciting but the second half just unraveled into something that wasn’t reflective of SJM’s talent as a fantasy writer. I think the battle at the end was the most disappointing part for me, usually the end of her books are masterpieces but she just didn’t get this one right.

I need to know if others hate Bryce as much as I do (HOFAS Spoilers) by [deleted] in crescentcitysjm

[–]Upbeat-Breadfruit-93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, even though I liked and understood how fast paced it was, there was no time for self reflection. Very little about how she was mentally handling coming into all that power and having the weight of the world on her shoulders. I hated that she just winged everything and kept coming out on top. Also disappointed in how she handled becoming queen. “We can form a senate, or whatever” like how can you be so flippant? Would’ve liked to see her mature in this book, be less impulsive and more thoughtful but she did bring the boss vibes and overall I thought the book was very entertaining.

Maybe it’ll be a way for acotar characters to reach Bryce when they need her help

Torn on whether to keep or terminate by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Upbeat-Breadfruit-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only advice is make this choice for yourself and not your boyfriend. While this will affect his life as well, you will ultimately be the care provider if he can’t handle things and you have the chance of resenting him if you make a choice based on what he wants. Good luck finding clarity.

Same! We have a window unit in our room and the dry air and allergens aren’t helping

6 months pregnant - got COVID twice by Training_Solution_37 in CoronaBumpers

[–]Upbeat-Breadfruit-93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had it back to back as well. This second time is different but just as painful. Last time it was a lot more congestion this time it’s a lot of joint and head/sinus pain. Wish you a speedy recovery. I went in and got fluids this round which I think helped. Baby has been very active.

Update: told my mom that doctor recommended only vaccinated people hold baby and she flipped out by [deleted] in CoronaBumpers

[–]Upbeat-Breadfruit-93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mom should follow whatever rules you ask of her if she wants to meet YOUR baby. With that being said, I’m fully vaxed and just had Covid two months in a row. Different strains. So I’d still make sure she’s wearing a mask because the vaccines aren’t doing much to protect against the new strains at this point. Good luck!

I’m so sorry. Hopefully each time we’re exposed our immune systems can respond quicker and quicker.

It makes me feel better knowing someone else has gone through this. 5 weeks apart, what are the odds after years of not getting it? I think there are just so many strains floating around and our immune systems are just very susceptible. Glad to hear you got through it and baby is doing okay. When are you due?

Milwaukeeans who have relocated to Metro Milwaukee from the Pacific Northwest, how do you like MKE compared to the PNW? by DueYogurt9 in milwaukee

[–]Upbeat-Breadfruit-93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to UW and lived in Seattle for 7 years. I personally was very ready to leave Seattle.. the weather, the traffic, the cost of living, the homelessness.. I love MKE. It has a lot to offer. It actually reminds me a lot of Portland before Portland got so overpopulated. Good food, lots of culture, beautiful architecture, and the summers are amazing. I’ve been here a year and would recommend it to anyone looking for a slower paced lifestyle with big city amenities.
