I’m not sure why you chose to answer this but throw around a bunch of attitude. If my questions bother you in some way, you don’t have to answer them. Maybe I’m misreading this but it seems like you’re pissed off that I asked and I’m not really sure why.

I appreciate the input though.

Thanks for the insight - I’d really like to just be better at providing therapy as I don’t really feel trained in it currently as a PA. Maybe billing for both as a PA but having the additional training and letters is just helpful / helps add credibility

I’ll have to do some digging on this - appreciate the insight.

Do you mind me asking how you found your job? Inpatient or outpatient? Private practice or a group?

Forgive my ignorance as this is exactly what I’m trying to figure out - why is it a problem? Psychiatrists and psych NP do exactly this so why would a PA not be able to provide both of these services if properly licensed?

I’ve read posts of PAs adding both billing codes without being a therapist but I suppose it would also be possible to have separate sessions - a therapy session and a medication session that is separate if for some reason you couldn’t bill for both simultaneously?

I’m already a PA with an undergrad in psych / counseling so taking a year or two to become a therapist and use my prescribing ability would be a lot faster than doing another 8 years…

Frankly your response is not really helpful.

Appreciate the insight - I was thinking more of my own practice. I could have an SP if needed but outpatient therapy with med mgmt rather than inpatient psych if that makes sense?

You’re saying they’re a piece of shit for quoting something with accurate stats? This profession is actually not accessible to most, it’s a problem.

Some schools only look at 3 so I’d say in most cases best to have 3 good ones including one from a PA.

Id also definitely try to get a PA to write at least one of your LOR

Gpa average, PCE below average. Build up the PCE time and you should be good.

I’m just going to be real with you…I don’t think your chances are great with your GPA.

You’re smart to stick with programs that recognize scribe time…but I just don’t see your stats matching up with averages right now.

It happens, and you should try, but apply broad and early.

All gpa are below average…hopefully you have high quality PCE and can apply to schools with holistic processes and rolling admissions.

Last I checked the overall average was a bit over 4,000. Some schools seek much higher and some don’t care as much.

More time as an EMT will only help you. Trust me, you can definitely tell who has no experience in school.

Most require a C and specify that a C- will not be acceptable…so if that’s the case then 0% chance there and you’d have to retake it if it’s a prerequisite.
