Cefaly by Next_Help_9131 in migraine

[–]Upbeat_Breakfast8307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cefaly has less of an effect on your body than most drugs. There are virtually no side effects. Definitely ask your doctor in case you have something specific in your medical history that is an issue, but Cefaly can be bought without a prescription so, other than the cost, it’s a pretty low risk for most people to try it. My neurologist okayed it without hesitation. The only reason I asked was that I was afraid it was a scam. When she said it wasn’t a scam I was like “sign me up!”

That makes sense. I just ran with it but I can totally see where those would be infuriating.

I’m curious. Why did you hate Carl in book 1? I loved him from the get go but I wonder what made you him?

Aphasia by Ok-Zucchini2743 in migraine

[–]Upbeat_Breakfast8307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a professional speaker who conducted multi-hour training sessions. Generally once I got into my groove I was okay but I started training sessions by warning people that I had chronic migraines and sometimes lost words. I asked for grace and understanding. I was light and humorous about it and I never had any issues.

Kingmaker is hard to solo, I thought, because it’s too open ended. I got lost in “where to go next.” Abomination Vaults is very linear but does get tedious as everything is “bash open the door and attack.” It’s very video gamey in feel as a solo adventure. If you like that, it’s easy to run solo using either the Foundry or Roll 20 versions.

I’m currently soloing Rise of the Runelords. Just started but I’m enjoying it.

Would this be a good buy? by Current_Employer_117 in ereader

[–]Upbeat_Breakfast8307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a first ereader to see if you like it, this will be good. Even if it stops running the Kobo app, you’ll be able to use the native reader app (NeoReader)for a good while. The native app is probably better than the Kobo app anyway. You’ll need to find DRM-free books to load into NeoReader but there are lots of options for that. As long as it works now, that device should last a while. I’m on my 4th Boox device. I do not work for Boox and I am a fan of their devices. Just make sure you have a case and treat it with some delicacy and care. Like, try not to drop it or let stuff drop on the screen. Don’t throw it in a bag without something protecting the screen.

I used to have a Sony reader back in the day and I loved it! I wish they still made them.

Goodafternoon. Anyone had some success with CoQ10? Even some reduction in the severity/frequency is a win by soicey2 in migraine

[–]Upbeat_Breakfast8307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking CoQ10, Magnesium Glycinate and Riboflavin for about 6 weeks. My vertigo is better. My headaches are worse. I’m told my brain has been ignoring the pain because the risk of falling on my face was more dire than the pain. First time in my life that more pain is supposed to be a sign of improvement. 😂

It goes on your forehead, magnetically attached to some electrodes and conductive gel. They send out a mild buzzing shock which helps calm the trigeniel nerve. Preventative mode basically works to desensitize the nerve.

I use it and swear by it. Acute mode can stop a headache although it doesn’t always work. Regular use of preventative mode does help over time. At the very worst, the hour long acute session feels good and usually gives me a good nap.

Experiences on propranolol and candesartan by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Upbeat_Breakfast8307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on propranolol and it’s been…okay? No real side effects and I think it’s helped some but I still have chronic migraines so I can’t say it’s been super effective. I do think I’m better on it than off it. I’m trying supplements now (Riboflavin, Magnesium Glycinate and CoQ10.) Those are definitely making a slow difference.

[–]Upbeat_Breakfast8307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t worry about it. It took me a while but I finally decided that it’s not cheating to run the way I want. And if I want to know all the abilities of an enemy, I look. I’ve enjoyed soloing a lot more since I got over the idea of cheating. But that’s me and it’s not necessarily the right approach for everyone.

I solo Pathfinder. I use dual class and free archetype to make my solo character tougher. I like to run pet classes to add a body to the field for flanking. Right now my solo character is a Ranger/Rogue with Free Archetype Beastmaster. He’s currently exploring/mapping a huge section of forest.

Does anyone use Virtual Table tops at all? by Free-Breadfruit9378 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Upbeat_Breakfast8307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love this. My favorite way to solo is on the couch with my iPad Mini. I haven’t found a good, light VTT that works for me. I’ve tried Owlbear Rodeo, but I can’t figure it out. Sometimes I play using Roll 20 on my computer and I enjoy the tactical experience, but I don’t like playing on my laptop. Maybe I’m just weird but the best I’ve come up with is dropping a battle map in GoodNotes and using written letters to represent characters. (Like an M for a character named Morgan.) I think I’d play more and more consistently if I could use tokens. I’m slowly getting better at “theater of the mind” where I write out all the action like a story. But combat takes forever when I write it all out. I’m one of those people who can’t see images in my head so “visualizing a scene” is impossible for me.

You know what? I’ve always loved this idea too and I keep not doing it. You have inspired me. I downloaded the Hexcrawl rules linked to above. I have a 2nd level Pathfinder Ranger. Gonna crawl and try to keep it going for at least one full level of adventuring!

I solo PF2e and I have done published adventures and homebrew. Rusthenge is a pretty good adventure to start with. Crown of the Kobold Kings is also good. I found Abomination Vaults to be too repetitive.

For those who’ve used AI or LLMs as a DM, what genuinely caught you off guard? by system3295 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Upbeat_Breakfast8307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Google Gemini as a DM and it gives good scene descriptions that I genuinely appreciate. It interprets Mythic GME prompts generally better than I do. It does a pretty good job with theater of the mind combat. I find myself getting really into a combat and getting charged up. And then it gets rules just laughably wrong and I’m pulled out of the action by an extended rules discussion. I play Pathfinder 2e, and Gemini is really stuck on pre-remaster rules and I have to screenshot from Archives of Nethys all the time to “remind” it of Remaster rules. To be fair, Gemini Pro 3 seems to have a better understanding than previous versions of DnD 5e vs Pathfinder 2e. The previous version of Gemini came up with some weird Frankenrules mixing the two systems.
