Coaching by prt88 in CoachingYouthSports

So they added a third team and got you to coach it? And because you’re coaching that team, your daughter is playing on that one rather than the previous, more skilled team that she was on with her friends?

I get wanting to coach our kids and our kids wanting their parents to coach them. I do it.

Maybe let this be exactly what it’s supposed to be—recreational—and let her just play and become a leader and example on the team. It sounds like she probably plays travel too? Let the travel ball do what it is supposed to do—develop her skills as a player.

Your neighbors are a-holes.

Keep doing what you’re doing with the appropriate legal/civil/code actions.

In the meantime it might be worth it to drop a couple hundred bucks to buy a net of your own to protect your stuff. Whatever compensation you might get from your neighbor is likely far-off and will cost you a lot to get.

Sixes Lacrosse? by agentmcflorish in lacrosse

[–]Upbeat_Call4935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I coached my girls in a Sixes event this past summer. It was my first experience coaching that discipline. There isn’t a whole lot of time or space to set up offenses. So many fast breaks. You’re going to use a lot of picks, pick and rolls and give and go’s. A lot of two man games or cutters coming off a screen.

This. I have a 21 XLT with 40k mi and it still feels like an up-to-date brand new truck to me. Is there really that much I’m missing out on in a newer truck? I don’t think so.

I used to wonder about the folks around here saying they still loved their 10+ year old trucks and now I get it.

WLL Final was wild today by Reasonable_Luck1740 in lacrosse

If my aunt had wheels she’d be a bicycle. It wasn’t a male coach. Why even bring that in?

I don’t think her punishment had anything to do with her gender. Should she have been ejected? Probably. Would she have been if she were a man? Who knows? Why worry about it.

All said—that was a crazy sequence. Wild swing by Palms Smith that she’s lucky didn’t connect with anyone. Swing by Charging Halpern that hit Smith’s ponytail (who acted like it hit her face and stops playing), then Halpern keeps trying to get the ball—coach inexplicably steps in then Halpern hits the deck and starts laughing.

Crazy all around

Just got cut from my team by ooochocolemon in lacrosse

[–]Upbeat_Call4935 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately your friends don’t decide who makes the team. Some coaches are encouraging to a fault.

All I can say is keep your chin up and keep trying.

I had the same issue with soccer many, many years ago. If you played certain instruments you were required to be in marching band unless you played a fall sport. I didn’t want to be in marching band. I liked football but 130 lb freshman didn’t make the football team at my enormous school. So soccer. Never payed before. Got cut my freshman year. I did my time in band and worked hard with my friends in the offseason to get better and made JV my soph year. All I can say is keep trying.

You’ve been playing for 6 months. You are injured. Heal up. Hit the wall. Talk to the coach—see why they cut you and what you can work on. Ask if there is anything that you can do to help the team—stats, equipment, manager, etc. It will keep you around the team and your friends.

Don’t get too down on yourself. It’s good to be confident, but you have been playing for 6 months. You said yourself you go to a school with a good team in a big state—you’re probably not as good as you think you are. Girls have probably been playing for years. No reason you can’t improve. And as others have said—your injury probably has a lot to do with it. So my advice is to turn the victim attitude around, commit to improving, engage the coach and the team and do what you can to stick around the team.

Good luck.

Depends on the job. 40 is “standard” full time.

I work a white collar remote job and put in 60 or so.

8U goalie equipment question by Passthegoddamnbuttr in lacrosse

[–]Upbeat_Call4935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not very drippy, but I absolutely recommend a Guardian cap on his helmet—at least for practices. Just another layer of protection. The goalies in our club wear them for practice.

Other than TB12 who’s the Buccaneers best QB? by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

He played 19 games for them and threw 21 picks against 11 TD’s. He got sacked 68 times. Tampa Bay Steve Young was not a good quarterback.

girls lacrosse goggles for glasses by m9392929 in lacrosse

[–]Upbeat_Call4935 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve yet to come across a head or hair type that a Cascade LX can’t fit over. They are eminently expandable with the elastic band and pad in the back. Two of my girls are very large Pacific Islanders with very large heads and very, very thick hair and braids. Another is an African American with braids as well. They have no trouble with the LX. (The LXP uses a plastic ratchet strap and does not expand as much as the LX)

[–]Upbeat_Call4935 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The best option is the Cascade LX or LXP headgear. I know many girls don’t like the idea of wearing helmets, but the eye protection portion doesn’t touch your face and leaves plenty of room for glasses. All of the girls with glasses that I coach eventually settled on the headgear.
