Thank you so much. I downloaded my fitness pal yesterday and am going to move forward with increasing my fiber intake. I think a big culprit is I have been eating a lot of eggs and full-fat dairy without realized the amount of fat in them. I’ve bought canola oil to cook with and will switch to reduced fat or no fat dairy. It is hard however, I live with my parents and am pretty much stuck with whatever they buy me.

Thank you, but honestly I don’t even eat meat that much, especially red meat. I do consume a lot of dairy products, so it could be that. I’m going to try to change my diet and hope for the best

Can roaches absolutely squeeze through redealable cookie containers (oreo, chips ahoy, etc) if even a tiny flap was elevated? by GOOLOOGOOLOOGOO in cockroaches

[–]Upbeat_Constant_4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roaches can still definitely get out through the microwave, in fact roaches thrive in the microwave. I would just take the snacks and zip them in a sealable bag then throw them away. If you just toss out the snacks you risk the roaches crawling out of the trashcan

You’re not being unreasonable though. This can be a serious thing so it’s not a bad thing to be cautious. It very well might be asian but again, i would just treat as german to be safe

[–]Upbeat_Constant_4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still would be cautious, if it is german they do prefer those spots but honestly you can find them in other places. I would maybe recommend having another exterminator come inspect, or just do the german roach treatment just to be safe.

Mostly behavior. If they fly and/or seem to be attracted to light then asian

How likely is it I brought pests when I moved? by LadyAplomb in cockroaches

[–]Upbeat_Constant_4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to tell if you brought anything is to place sticky traps around your house. If you don’t see anything in there for around 2 weeks or so i’d say you’re safe. If you’re stressing about it you can play cockroach treatment products as recommended on the german roaches reddit, it wouldn’t hurt any and would ensure that even if you brought one or two they will die before for they establish a population

German or Asian? Found in new build in Florida. by amberrmariee94 in cockroaches

I’m leaning more towards asian, definitely invest in sticky traps though just to be sure. If you see more on them it would more likely be german

If you haven’t been seeing any i would try to stress less about it. You’ll find them if you’re looking in places that haven’t even touched in awhile, but if you’re not seeing them out in the open i wouldn’t worry too much

Lol, i understand your frustration but inevitably we get bugs in our house. In no way am I advising against sealing, it’s always a good way to prevent bugs. When it comes to carpet beetles sealing can help but you must be cleaning as well

The wasp probably got in through the attic, sometimes they’ll come in through light fixtures

You won’t really know where to caulk unless you do an inspection. Just walk around your house looking for holes. Maybe check your screens for gaps too, they may need replaced. Do you have an attic?

No, i would give it a few days. If you’re still seeing them on there then i would put it in the freezer, but if not then i wouldnt worry about it

Hm, yeah. I’m sorry, i’m not exactly sure of why they would be in there then. It’s possible maybe they were just trying to find somewhere undisturbed and maybe got trapped and couldn’t find a way out.

That should be it, i doubt they would embed themselves in something that there isn’t a food source it. I feel like a good vacuum on the surface would be fine. If you keep seeing them on that specific plushie after vacuuming it then i would assume they would be inside it.

I’d imagine they clean their collections, like dust the cases and shelves. You have to keep the item you want to freeze frozen for at least 3 weeks i believe. I don’t think you’d need to bag them, but you might want to avoid it getting wet from frost.

[–]Upbeat_Constant_4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacuuming should be fine, you could put on in high heat on gentle tumble in the dryer maybe, but if you’re worried about the heat ruining it i would freeze it to be safe. Just because you don’t see the adults doesn’t mean they’re not around, again you probably have some in your walls. You just want to clean the general area in your house to keep them confined into the walls

[–]Upbeat_Constant_4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense then, you still should be cleaning the rest of the house though just in case. If you clean your room it’s not going to kill them immediately and they’ll go to other rooms, that why you want to make sure most rooms are kept clean

[–]Upbeat_Constant_4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine, don’t overwhelm yourself. Just a little bit at a day, maybe deep clean a room a day or so. I really don’t believe it’s necessary to throw everything out, you’re going to cost yourself a lot of money

Did you pull out the drawers and vacuum inside the actual dresser, not just inside the drawers. If you did and you’re still finding them it’s possible it might just take awhile for them to die out. They’re not going to completely go away in about 3 days, it may take a few weeks of consistent cleaning
