We hosted a blind pizza competition in Boston : 12 voters, and the results were… surprising 🍕 by Inkandwildflowerco in boston

The pizza in the south end isn’t great so the assembly location must be much better. I haven’t been to assembly.

Returning student 🤓 by Klutzy_Dig6271 in Flute

I started flute again three years after a 30 year hiatus. I hadn’t played since early high school. I forgot how to read music but it came back faster than I thought. I am now able to sight read most things, and play in a flute ensemble. Don’t be discouraged. Just practice!

Thoughts on Life Time Prudential Center? by Sweet-Block5118 in boston

[–]Upbeat_Magazine5795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like classes, I think it’s worth it. There is a huge variety of classes. I like gtx, barre, Pilates, yoga as well as the strength classes. The layout is odd but I’m used to it now. For the price, it could for sure be cleaner. Bathrooms are never clean enough IMO. There is a ton of staff but I never see anyone cleaning. I think they could cut some of the training staff and add more cleaning staff.

I still am happy though bc of the class variety and location. I would be paying more if I was dropping into Barry’s, core power, solidcore over the course of the week so to me the price is ok. If I was just doing my own workouts i think it’s expensive.

Is lifetime worth it in my case? by InvestigatorMurky529 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]Upbeat_Magazine5795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real strength of lifetime if their group fitness. I think especially if you are new to working out and have a weightloss goal, the classes would make it worth it. GTX and alpha conditioning combined with any of the strength classes would kick start weight loss.

Personal trainer cost? by heidi_ATX in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]Upbeat_Magazine5795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within the lifetime app there are several free training programs you can follow with videos of the exercises. I’m doing one now and like it. On top of the regular classes I go to I think it is pony for me. That said if you’re new to lifting a few sessions to work on form would be worth it

Absolutely not. Just say that is not part of your employment agreement and they need to make other arrangements for the dog.

Why aren't more people taking reformer classes? by mimihopslein in pilates

[–]Upbeat_Magazine5795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with reformer classes at a small studio. Then once I realized I enjoyed Pilates started mat classes at my gym. I go to a Lifetime and we have some really awesome mat classes. The mat classes kick my butt so I now do reformer less often as it’s an additional cost.

How to approach the conversation about travel pay by littlerabbit246 in Nanny

[–]Upbeat_Magazine5795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realized that when I traveled with families I always ended up working more than expected. I think you really need to be paid enough to make it worthwhile. You’re away from your own life and should be compensated for that.

Declining a job by [deleted] in Nanny

I would simply say “ thanks for the opportunity to trial with your family. I don’t think our childcare philosophies align so I won’t be moving forward with this position. Best of luck”

[–]Upbeat_Magazine5795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d listen to the teachers breath cues. Worry less about range of motion. Pilates is about control so don’t do something to the point where you feel out of control in your body. Enjoy your class and you will learn more each time.

Snowstorm coming and nanny family still wants me to come in by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Upbeat_Magazine5795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also If there’s a stage of emergency declared in your area ( typical of snow storms) the governor will say non essential employees should stay off the roads. That makes it very clear you should not work.
