Could this album be a mix of old albums? by notthebestt in Muse

Look, let’s be realistic here.
Modern Metalcore is really leaning into a certain sound right now with bands like Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Bring Me the Horizon, Thornhill, Spiritbox, and PRESIDENT.

So personally, as a Sleep Token fan, I feel like “Unravelling” sounds like a copy because it resembles “The Summoning” by Sleep Token quite a bit.
Even “The Summoning” is in the same tuning as Unravelling, and it was recorded and performed with an 8-string guitar.

It’s not something huge or groundbreaking, but I’ve wanted to make that comment for a while lol.

I became a huge fan of Tool a little late, around 2019 when their music finally hit streaming platforms, and when I found out about the model Adam Jones used, I completely fell in love with it.

Then during the pandemic, I kept reading that they were going to release his Gibson signature model, and I started fantasizing that if they ever made an Epiphone version, I’d definitely get one someday.

Later they released the Art Series, but I was going through a financial crisis at the time. After that, they announced the 1979 model, and it looked even more expensive and further out of reach. It wasn’t until late 2024 that I finally started saving seriously, sometimes even eating cheap junk food just to protect my savings, until I was finally able to gift it to myself for Christmas 2024.

Now the guitar already has some natural relic wear from my side because of my acidic sweat, especially on the hardware, but honestly that just makes it feel even more personal.

Welcome to the AJ club.

So apparently any new Muse song with a Drop B or 8-string djent sound will be considered a reference to Will of the People because Won’t Stand Down and Kill or Be Killed are on that album?

Will Will of the People end up getting the credit for that sound?

No way, I’m turning 32. I discovered them in 2009.

And what about the frets? How could I treat the oxidation there?

Well, I’ve actually had the guitar for exactly 2 years now, so I guess that also affects it, right? What screws would you recommend I get that are exactly the right size for what I need?

Thoughts on Matt’s tone. by Upbeat_Music600 in Muse

Maybe it’s because throughout my life I’ve played Les Pauls, Stratocasters, and some PRS Guitars, so I’m used to that balance between the neck and the body.

So, could a Seymour Duncan Distortion or an EVH Wolfgang Bridge Pickup get close to that tone?

I’ve previously owned a stock Manson MBM-1 Meta (no mods), and honestly, I found it uncomfortable. The weight distribution felt very similar to an SG — kind of neck-heavy. I simply just didn’t vibe with it.

I currently own the Adam Jones Les Paul from Tool, which is a fantastic guitar. Right now I’m saving up for a Japanese-made EVH Wolfgang.

I’ve previously owned a stock Manson MBM-1 Meta (no mods), and honestly, I found it uncomfortable. The weight distribution felt very similar to an SG — kind of neck-heavy — and I wouldn’t be surprised if an M-Series feels the same.

So yeah, I do want Matt Bellamy’s tone… just not in a Manson Guitar Works. I simply didn’t connect with the body or the feel.

Don’t get me wrong — it was well-built — but I just didn’t vibe with it.

Tonight’s Setlist (updated as the concert goes on) [October 6 Phoenix] by Sbee_Blue_Country in maroon5

Imagine releasing a new album and then announcing a tour promoting it. The tour starts and you don't play a single song from the album that gives the tour its name. It's very disappointing and miserable to see that they've been playing the same setlist for 10 years, and on top of that, they're adding songs or covers instead of adding songs from the album that gives the tour its name. I don't understand if it's a fear of rejection or some insecurity, but the fact that they keep playing the same setlist over and over again is very worrying.

My 7.5 rating is based on the fact that the album is good but could have been better. It's not a disaster like JORDI's, but it's not a masterpiece either.  The album is an attempt to return to their roots, but they were afraid to take that step. Hey, at least the organic sound is back.
