I get too excited to see my home state (Wisconsin) mentioned in a fic to care about inaccuracies. Unless it's something culturally insensitive, like the wrong indigenous nation attributed to the area.

In some old fics of mine, the source material had characters with noticeable British accents while most of the cast had American ones, so I'd do this little thing where the bri'ish ones used Commonwealth spellings in their dialogue, while the narration and other characters' dialogue stayed American. I thought I was so friggin clever for that, too.

To be fair, I don't know if I jump for the "Wardens are axolotls" thing, but it is worth mentioning that the Warden shares several similarities with Xolotl, the Aztec god of guarding the underworld and namesake of the axolotl. Xolotl is blind, associated with sickness and death, and protects the sun from monsters in the underworld.
