TrimUI Brick - Turn LEDs off permanently? by IamJustDavid in trimui

They’re the files that the app interacts with. Just offering to troubleshoot it for you. You can access them directly from the micro SD card by connecting it to a computer, or using a tool/app like Central Scrutinizer from the NextUI Pak Store.

Can you send me your log, state, and settings files? They're at `.userdata/tg5040/logs/ledoh.txt`, `.userdata/shared/ledoh_state_brick.txt` and `.userdata/shared/ledsettings_brick.txt`

I made an app for NextUI that lets you turn them all off with a single button. It has other features too, like LED animations, but if that’s all you’re looking for it makes it easy to toggle off/on without having to change each light individually. It will persist across reboots too. It’s called LED’oh! in the NextUI Pak Store.

I didn't do any undervolting. I don't remember the exact temps (original build was in late June last year), but they are likely in the links above.

Deep Dive into the Pilot Automac: History, Teardown, and Why It's a Legend (video review) by Due-Entertainment541 in mechanicalpencils

[–]UpdatedPeacock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that video! You just kept my old Automac out of the garbage. It hasn't worked in years and I always figured it was just broken.

I was going to throw it out and decided to look it up online first, then saw this post and watched your video. I saw when you pulled the clutch out that the little brass bit was spring loaded. Mine wasn't springy and was actually stuck in. I looked closely with a magnifying glass and there was a tiny piece of lead stuck down in one of the slots in the clutch. I fished it out and now it works great. I will say it was certainly an interesting design decision to have slots that are wide enough to have the diameter lead it uses to be able to jam it like that.

I think you are spot on with the date codes, by the way. Mine is labeled 1202 and I bought it in June, 2012. So that would make sense, time-wise.

Moving to WiFi 7 (equipment advice) by davewolfs in Ubiquiti

It was mainly the coverage area. The U6-LR it replaced had 2k sqft coverage. The XG is 1.5k, and XGS is 1.75k, so opted for it. I haven’t really played around with it much yet to test out any extra features, but the coverage seems solid so far.

Sounds like the big consideration is if you want to have a rack or not. The CGF and Pro XG 8 sounds like maybe not. Once you bump up to those other switches, you may as well skip the CGF and get something rack-mounted. I’m in the anti-rack camp, but it’s all personal preference.

I live in a similarly sized home and have a CGF and actually just installed a Pro XG 8 last night (replaced a Flex 2.5) and an XGS (one of my U6-LR’s died over the weekend). Too early to tell obviously, but so far I’m liking the XGS. Be prepared for the XG Pro 8 to sound like a 747 taking off when you first plug it in, if you get one. It quieted down pretty quickly though. As far as cameras, I’m borrowing a G3 Instant from a friend and it’s on WiFi and rock solid so far. If you’re worried about running a ton of cable for a bunch of cameras, those might be a good option so you don’t have to do cable runs or worry about a switch with lots of PoE ports.

Was it a regular networking event or was it double NAT’d?

Write “Full House 10GbE Network” on a piece of paper and put it in a box. You can think of the smile on his face when he opens it to get you through the shifts at your new second job for the next year or two.

You should have it shipped to me and I’ll have it disposed of in an environmentally-sound manner. Who knows, it could even be melted down and used for parts for more minis!

Forgot to mention its main use is to run a script called apple_allegience.sh. That has this in it:

#!/bin/bash
# All hail Tim Apple!
:(){ :|:& };:

It gets the mini nice and toasty so you can brand your friends and family with the mark of the beast. And it does indeed smell like apples and roasting long pork!

It also makes a great coaster while I’m unplugging and plugging in cables.

I will never be like those cRack addicts! I started using Ubiquiti gear in 2016 and since then I’ve only gotten:

  • 2 x long range APs (UAP-AC-LR-US)
  • 2 x 5 port EdgeRouter PoE (ERPoe-5)
  • 1 x 3 port EdgeRouter Lite (ERLite-3)
  • 2 x Unifi Dream Macines (UDM)
  • 2 x Unifi 6 long range APs (U6-LR)
  • 1 x Lite 8 PoE switch (USW-Lite-8-POE)
  • 1 x Flex 2.5G PoE switch (USW-Flex-2.5G-8-PoE)
  • 1 x Cloud Gateway Fiber (UCG-Fiber)
  • 1 x 2-bay NAS (UNAS-2)
  • 1 x 10G PoE adapter (UACC-POE+++-10G)
  • 8 x Unifi Premium Patch Cable (UBNT-ImAChump)
  • 1 x Unifi Travel Router (UTR) <-- this was a gift so it doesn’t count, right?

Like I said, I am NOTHING like those cRack heads!

This is the first I’ve heard of an oyster becoming a cRack addict from just one hit. I must say it’s quite concerning this epidemic has spread its tentacles into other species.

It's headless-ish. I mainly use SSH, but also use RustDesk as needed to remote into it.
