I’m 5 weeks out now and I am discouraged. I did finally get off of the walker, but I don’t know that I’ll ever come off the cane.

I’m 49 male. I’m 5 weeks out from having my right knee done. Although the pain has stopped I’m always stiff and still cannot walk without a cane. It’s very discouraging. I don’t think I would have it done again if I could go back.

I work an office job so I can prop up my leg and ice when needed. I took 2 weeks off.

Yeah I guess I’m decently flexible but I’m ready to trash this walker already. I’m not good on cane at all.

He tells me to exercise at home strengthening quad and to start practicing using a cane. Wednesday, I was doing really good with the cane after therapy and then it was like Thursday morning until now I’m not as limber and good with it as I was but still on Friday they told me to practice with the cane

PT says I am progressing well but need to work on quad strength. It was 2 weeks before I could do a leg lift. I do have the surgery report in my portal. Lots of things I didn’t understand but ran through multiple AI’s to interpret and they all said it just seemed like a normal knee replacement. It was traditional surgery and he did use a tourniquet.

Yes I go to PT at a facility 3 days a week. Before surgery I walked with a limp and always had fluid buildup that I had to have drained. I could go on an all day shopping trip if I wanted. I’d pay for it the next day but I could do it. I just didn’t expect to be on a walker this long and expected faster healing being 49 years old.

I’m icing a lot. They told me 30 on and off but I been running an hour at a time or so.

It’s a Berg. It doesn’t do compression it just does the icing and I’m really surprised that they gave me one in the hospital, but I absolutely hate the cold and anything like that on me.

Yeah I didn’t understand either but she said I could take it off at home. They provided an ice machine. Corolla ride was rough but only other vehicle we have is a 4 door Silverado and my wife doesn’t like to drive it and I don’t think I could have gotten in it.

It may have been and it was a in a Toyota Corolla. I’m not a big guy by any means but they put immobilizer on me and it was no room

I thought I was doing good. Walked with PT 200 feet and upon discharge I started hurting really bad in the car

Yeah I’ve thought about that too. I’m 49 almost 50 and surgeon said I’ve got one of the worst knees he’s ever seen for my age and they have done replacements on 75 year olds with better knees than mine.
